Avengers: Infinity War spoiler thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bah. It’s like the third time we’ve seen Thor do that.

The Strange/Thanos battle was something we haven’t seen and an example of the full breadth of the mystical and cosmic powers in the MCU.

It’s nice to see something different.

I guess we can only speak from our own perspectives. The Dr. Strange fight was a cool scene that I recall in passing.

The Thor scene actually gave me chills, and seemed like the biggest moment in the movie aside from the conclusion.

For Fortnite players, Thanos is in it for a limited time.

His goal was to wipe out half the population, right?

If we aren't supposed to think they're dead, what are we supposed to think?

I get what you're saying...

I think your view is how most people walking into the theater, not being aware of the underlying source material and motivations, that's what they'd think .. they don't give you any indication that these people are still alive because technically, they are very dead.

I think what @Derek , myself and others who read the comics were thinking is "how are they going to do the next part and get everyone back for the grand finale?" And since we know this all gets undone ahead of time, that shock of "omg he's dead" is taken away...

Right. And as someone who's never even seen a comic book, there's no way of knowing that everything gets undone.

Infinity War was really made for the hardcore watchers and not really geared towards the casual fan. They don't waste a lot of time going in depth with certain plot points. Like if you play close attention you'll notice that Captain America and Tony Stark don't see or speak to each other the whole movie. Also you'll notice that the movie starts with Thanos petty much ending Thor's world but where is Valkyrie and Korg? A casual movie watcher who hasn't seen all the films wouldn't pickup on that. especially the part about Cap and Tony.

I was wondering about this! I loved Korg lol thought he was hilarious.

The directors confirmed that Valkyrie and half the Asgardians escaped via escape pod as Thor and Loki held off the Black Watch.

Shitty....

Trying to think of ways of making the story work now..

I mean... given how he’s been semi-introduced into the MCU, you didn’t actually think he’d be in the movie, did you?

They weren’t about to build up to this for 10+ years just to have some guy the mainstream audience had never heard of show up the last minute and be the hero.

Cap or Ironman probably saves the day by sacrificing themselves. My bet is Cap.

My understanding was that he was going to be in GotG3.. But IMHO, they've got 2.5 hours, plus Ant-Man and Captain Marvel to introduce this dude, so yeah, I think they should've put him in the film.

They just had a guy the mainstream audience has never heard of show up and wipe out half of the population of the Universe.

The problem is how ... In itself, that wouldn't make sense... Like, Cap can't just suicide mission Thanos. Nor can Captain Marvel for that matter.

I think the Soul World will be important here, and they'll likely need to make Thanos remove the gauntlet from within the Soul World; and then, I guess, you could suicide him...

Thanos has been built up over the past ten years though, he’s featured fairly heavily in Avengers and GotG.

Adam Warlock would have been a completely different animal to tackle especially since he’s just now being born in that pod.

If they hadn’t established that, yes, they probably could have snuck him into the microverse in Ant-Man, or introduced him in Captain Marvel.

Danvers most likely takes his place as an OP cosmic entity, but in the end the glory will go to one of the originals Avengers.

Cap gotta take one for the team. Tony ain't sacrificing shit. Not until he reworks that contract at least :chuckle:
