#100: Travis Benjamin, WR, Miami (FL)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We'll see what this kid can do sooner rather than later. He needs to work on his hands over the middle; I think he's more comfortable just trying to out-run coverage. One thing we can take from this is that you shouldn't expect Tom Heckert to go after size over speed. He's drafted Desean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and now Benjamin.

Jackson and Maclin have both turned out pretty damn good too, hoping this trend continues with Benji.

Travis Benjamin is the most explosive guy on offense and it's a shame he has only 6 touches.. 3 end arounds and 3 receptions. He needs to be more involved. I think it's time for Cribbs to hand over return duties. Benjamin was great returning during the preseason.

I think we should honestly use the reverse on the opening drive tonight.....Shurmur's gotta pull out all stops tonight

Seeing how we've ran that play 3 times already this season and it accounts for 1/2 of his touches. I don't really think it's a smart play call... Now the next logical step is to build off of that, maybe a fake. Maybe a double reverse. Maybe have Benjamin toss up a bomb to Little. But that end around is not going to work again.

Fixed it with Gordon. Little would likely drop it but still do a Usainboltpose anyways

I'd like to see Benji hit on a few underneath routes like drags and stuff to see if he can outrun some dudes after he gets the ball in his hands.

Way too logical, and easy. Shurmur knows the defense will be surprised if we throw deep routes on the outside to Benjamin with taller corners covering and no accuracy on Weeden's deep ball. Defenses will be completely caught off guard.

I laughed at this. I had to laugh. If I didn't laugh, I'd cry because it's true.

I felt early in the day like the Browns would challenge in this one, but the closer it gets to game time, the more I'm anticipating an absolute beatdown. Something to the tune of 31-6 on national telly.

Benjamin will probably start tonight. I think he'll be the number one receiver in a few years. He doesn't know how to run routes worth crap, and can still blow by coverages. LOTS OF RAW talent.

I have to say, Heckert looks like he may have gotten something here with Benjamin..

I know I was screaming at him for taking Benjamin this early, but he's been able to contribute as a receiver (more polished than I thought) and his explosive speed has been a nice asset..

Good to see the Browns able to add some speed and another weapon to the offense...

I have a theory... You want talent in the NFL draft from Miami. It seems like the U pumps out playmakers even when the program is down.

Benjamin still needs to realize when trying to turn the corner isn't feasible. :chuckles:

He's pretty darn good, though. That means Benjamin, Hughes and Winn are looking like good picks. Need JMJ back to see, Acho... we'll see. Wade needs work.

Has this dude been back at practice yet? I thought I read he was absent and Shurmur's bitch ass refused to disclose why or something.
