Big men are hit and miss regardless of origin.
In an attempt to redirect the thread back to its original intent, I am going to throw out a controversial hypothetical..
if we had drafted Kanter first, Tristan fourth and Isaiah Thomas in the second round, would we be in better shape going into the 2012 draft?
hes greek though, and he plays for the greek national teams, and for them in the u18 tourney......... Koufus wasn't Euro. He came from Glen Oak High School here in Canton.......

My preference for Jonas is well known but I like(d) Kanter, too. Jonas a bit more though.
I think it's hilarious that people (not necessarily here but on other boards and in the media) actually suggested the Williams/Knight duo. Yikes. If Grant did that I'd have demanded his head and that would be before the season even started when Kyrie was still somewhat of an "unknown."
my point actually wasnt about the euro style of play, its that koufos dominated it, but it hasnt exactly transferred to the nba. id say it says more about the talent level in the euro league than the style of play.He still grew up in the American system.
Chris Kaman plays for the German national team, he's not a Euro.
but they are still mike beasley 2.0 and a pg who doesn't actually know how to play pg no matter where they playIt's hard to judge Williams and Knight. They both went to the worst possible teams for them. Tough situations.

it certainly does, and there are certainly busts that come from ncaa. i realy dont want to use kofous as the only example, but i dont know of many other players who played both ncaa and euro. kofous really didnt dominate in the ncaa though. again, this is only one example, and as someone who bases his opinions mainly on facts, its admittedly a low sample size. this is exactly where scouting comes into play. my point was that the euroleague talent, at least the u18 talent, is not on the level of the ncaa imo. kemba and jimmer, btw, are rookies and could certainly improve. i think kemba could be pretty good, but jimmer's weaknesses have been known for a long time. as for beasley, i think hes really talented. his mind is just basically non-existent. i just have more confidence picking a player who could matchup against other top draft picks during some games. basically vs other top talent in some games and seeing how they fair. college has pretty effectively eliminated busts as bad as kwame, who never played against other top talent and dominated against lesser talent. And in the NCAA, Kemba Walker, Michael Beasley, Jimmer Fredette, JJ Redick, Sean May, Kyle Singler and Juan Dixon dominated.
It goes both ways. Might sound crazy, but I think this is where scouting comes into play.
