2012 Baseball Offseason Player Movement Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's done, five years.

Swisher probably ends up in Texas now, as the top outfielder remaining.

Yah. Wouldn't surprise me. Who are the top outfielders left if we don't get swisher? We'd have to sign somebody else rIght? Who else would play right field

@Buster_ESPN: Angels' lineup:CF Trout 3B Callaspo 1B Pujols RF Hamilton LF Trumbo 2B Kendrick DH Morales C Iannetta SS Aybar. Lightning; thunder; balance.

Wow. Must be nice to have money. Wonder how much he signed for.

Cody Ross or a trade are the most likely.

I would be OK with Cody Ross. Need to concentrate on pitching, IMO.

5/125

Angels staff:

1 - Jared Weaver
2 - CJ Wilson
3 - Tommy Hanson
4 - Jerome Williams
5 - Joe Blanton

Not sure that's good enough, factor in what will be at best a shaky back end of the bullpen (Madson coming off TJ, Ernesto Frieri and Scott Downs).

Not sure they have enough pitching to get it done.

Well shoot, I wanted him out of the American League.

One has to wonder whether Cleveland revisits the Cubs in talks for Alfonso Soriano now.

Cubs willing to eat $26M of the remaining $36M on the contract, if they get the right prospect in return.

Mark Trumbo also becomes a legit piece, if the Indians decide to put Justin Masterson or Chris Perez on the table.

Maybe Vernon Wells at an extreme discount just so the Angels can have him off the roster.

Or Kendrys Morales

They simply can't keep Pujols, Morales, Wells and Trumbo.

One of them will have to go.

So, who would be the most likely Indians prospect to fill that criteria?

Just wondering, I like Soriano and figure the Indians are probably gonna miss out on Swisher.

@Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: Dempster close with #RedSox on two-year, $26.5 million free-agent contract.

Sounds like the Angels have entered discussions for R.A. Dickey. The Mets really like Bourjos so a deal could be worked out.

Fuck Los Angeles, New York, and Miami.

New York hasn't signed anybody of relative importance this off-season, and neither have the Marlins.

I hate Miami as a city for obvious reasons. :chuckles:

Yankees just seem to have unlimited amounts of money. Gave Youk 12mil, gave some Japanese guy (name is escaping me, but he's solid) 15mil, Mariano 10mil, and are giving Ichiro around 10mil as well.

What Japanese guy?

Yanks are cutting payroll. Trying to get below the luxury tax threshold.
