2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
outside of kyrie this team has ZERO scorers with jamison leaving. adding drummond instead of a wing will ensure the worst offensive team in basketball

Irving
Beal
Gee
TT
Andy

Would be cool.......

I'd prefer:

Irving
Beal
Gee
TT
Drummond

I'm expecting us to come away from this draft with Harrison Barnes and some Euro scrub that we don't even bring over though. I hope I'm wrong......

Part of the reason why I think we are reportedly looking at Austin Rivers in the later lottery. There may be a dilemma where they know Drummond has too much potential to pass up, but they are in a bind where they have to get a wing player. This is why I earlier suggested potentially trading back from pick 4. We need immediate help but Drummond is too much of a project right now. It would be nice if this were more like the NFL draft where picks are more easily movable.

A deal like this could make some sense:

TO CHARLOTTE: #4 (Robinson or Barnes) and #24 (BPA) picks
TO CLEVELAND: #6 (Drummond) and #11 (Rivers, Lamb, or Waiters) picks
TO PORTLAND: #2 pick (Beal)

How about we just cut Portland out of the deal

I understand Beal is going to be a good player. I think he's going to be closer to Eric Gordon than he is Ray Allen though. Considering all of this team's needs, I'd rather end up with 2 lottery picks than one. This is about the only way to do that.
If we could walk away with Drummond & a wing from the lottery, I'd be ecstatic.

No man, wings are wayyy easier to find in the league than a 2-guard.

And how exactly is a wing more of a need for this team than a 2guard ?

This draft we gotta come out with 1) Beal or 2) MKG.

ANd Drummond isn't in the top5 talent wise in this draft, I don't why people are 'coveting' him.

'Wings' = SG and/or SF. At least that's always how I've looked at it.
IMO it may be slightly easier to find a SG than a SF. It's MUCH easier to find a 'wing' (ie SG or SF) than it is a Center.
Drummond is in the top 5 talent-wise. He's an absolute freak, who, if he reaches his potential, is one of the 2 best players from this draft. He's the 2nd youngest player in this draft and the only reason his stock is down some is that he's raw & it's going to take some time to develop him.

I am praying we trade #24 to move up to #2 to select Bradley Beal. As others have pointed out, very few players selected in the 20's ever become starting quality players. In my opinon Beal is much better than MKG and is worth trading that pick.

Do whatever it takes to get Beal!

I believe it was reported that Charlotte went to Portland about acquiring picks 6 and 11 for #2 and were reportedly shutdown right from the start. Doesn't help the fact that Portland's number one target now is Lillard.

Wow, this is just like the RG3 thing all over again. People went nuts wanting the Browns to trade up for RG3 & now it's seemingly happening again for the Cavaliers & Beal.
For the record, I disagree and do not want to spend any of our picks to move up 2 spots.
This is a deep draft and that #24 pick is valuable. Additionally, the player drafted at #4 this year may prove to be better than whoever is drafted at #2.

While true that it is harder to find a center than a wing. I refuse to take on another project as I mentioned earlier in the thread, you never pick a project with a top4 pick. Perimeter talent is much easier to evaluate and if its not a sure thing like the Howards or Davis you just don't waste a top4 pick on something not sure.

Top4 picks don't grow on trees. They take a lot of tanking, and chance. We can worry about center in next yr's draft or trade for one down the line.

Yes am still mad about TT.

Oh and combo guards are different from wings.

Ugh I really want Beal.

But if we stay put MKG will land in our lap and we'll still have some ammo to move up.

So many options and decisions, glad I'm not in charge because even I wouldn't know what to do.

I would prank call David Stern as The Washington Wizards and say that we want to draft Perry Jones III because of "talent and potential"

Then snag Beal.

We get this is a deep draft, but if Beal is the best player that can we get, I want him on our team. Quality beats quantity. I never thought MKG was the second best player on the board personally. I think most people view MKG as the safest pick(outside Davis) in the draft, which is why he was the early on consensus number 2 pick. That has quickly changed and rightfully so.

I was hoping Beal would stay under the radar and slip to 4, likely the Cavs have been hoping that as well all along, but that's no longer the case. The only real clear weakness Beal had coming in was his height, and he's answered his deficiencies with his combine measurements, and his workouts.

The Wiz aren't suddenly interested in Beal by accident. They know he's the better of the two between MKG and Beal. To me he's every bit as safe as MKG, with a lot more upside in his game.

I like MKG, I won't at all be upside if he's the selection. But I badly want to walk away with this draft with Bradley Beal. I hope the Cavs make a reasonable offer and effort. Not only is he more of a need position wise, he's also just the better fit period. He's going to make Gee and Irving much better players.

Kyrie might want his best buddy, but Beal is going to be Kyrie's best friend for his game.
