2012 NFL Free Agency Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why are we bitching about a RB that got 3 million for one year? He got signed to back-up Charles, why the hell would the Browns sign him for multiple years to be a starter?

Peyton Hillis is clearly a cunt. He sat out with strep throat and went through four agents this year alone. On top of it, he was a fumble machine. Gee, I wonder why the Browns didn't offer a contract....

Mike Adams, on the other hand, I'm a little upset about. We'll live, though.

Because we have no other RB.

If anyone was wondering, we have 8 DE's...

It should tell you a lot that he had to sign a 1 year contract as a backup. Oh, and I forgot that we aren't allowed to trade or draft any players from here on out.

And since when is DE depth a bad thing? Some of them will be cut anyway, namely Jayme Mitchell.

By your DE comment, we have 3 RBs. I don't want to argue about this, but my opinion is that Peyton Hillis is replaceable. Obviously, I liked him when he was a Browns player, but him being gone is not completely inexplicable.

You already know my stance, though. I think that there is a reason the FO does or doesn't make an offer. In this case, I find it very telling about the FO's faith in Hillis that they didn't want him for that cheap of a price.

From Icness over at RealGM:

I asked a Browns staffer about some stuff yesterday, notably Matt Flynn. He volulnteered that in their internal evaluations they didn't see anything in Flynn that was better than Colt McCoy. Read that more as they truly still really like Colt more than as a knock at Flynn. But the end point is that they will not pay Flynn anything close to what Flynn expects to get. Or expected to get I should say.

I also now even more strongly believe the Browns will not be picking at #4, and I'm backing off Blackmon to Cleveland.

-I think the Rams maneuver to get him [Blackmon], either trading up to #4 or at #6. Cleveland still a real possibility though. So is Minnesota if they fall back a bit.

Wonder where else they'd pick...

Both are horrid. I gave up on Cleveland sports radio a long time ago and will not listen until they bring in some competent guys who know sports instead of morons who know nothing about sports & just provide a dumb schtick to try to boost ratings..

I hear ya and understand to a certain degree. But, radio is part of my life sometimes, so I need some kind of sports talk that is fairly decent.

I hope they think Colt is pretty much the same as Flynn in a talent perspective. I also hope Colt turns it around and becomes a 'serviceable' QB we all want him to be. This season will tell, especially when we get him some toys.

I'm guessing he thinks we move down to 6 in a Rams trade. Claiborne still may be on the board there, if not, Trent will be.

Big fan of that move. I'd take one of those three easily.

im praying that colt steps it up this year and shows that he can be a good quarterback... that would be one hell of a relief.

Is this icness guy ever right about anything? Serious question. It seems like Smooth posts stuff from him ever year and none of it ever happens. IncarceratedBob?

I get that Hillis is replaceable, but re-signing him cancels out a need. We can take that 2nd or 3rd rounder and go grab the best safety, or best WR, instead of taking a RB.

Since he was the biggest asshole after a career year, I understand why they chose to go a different route. I'm not pissed about losing him, or him leaving for just 3 million, Im just pissed because we hit reset on the RB situation.

Michael Bush or the Law can change that. There's just no telling anymore.

Re-signing him doesn't cancel a need, the Browns would still have a poor RB core.

If Titans sign Peyton, what are the chances Locker becomes available

When he was healthy and hungry for money, did we have a poor RB core? No.

Actually, adding RB's were last on our mind. Going into last season, we were pleased that we found a RB who fit the smashmouth style.
