2012 Series #8 @ White Sox -|- May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
At least Kipnis is looking like he's gonna be a solid 2nd baseman in this league.

Precisely. Kipnis, Santana & Chisenhall will all be reasons to come to the ballpark, yet they Indians do absolutely NOTHING to promote them (I get why not with Chisenhall, but the latter are going to be great players).

I actually think they do a pretty good job of marketing, but agree more can be done for the individual players. The "What If?" campaign is wonderful. The things they have set up for kids is great. I just don't think we'll see Progressive Field rocking unless the Indians are in the playoffs or they have fireworks every night.

They do an exceptional job with their individual ticket sales ideas, but the promotions are too family oriented & ordinary.

I mentioned to him something like a stamp card. For example, if you sit in the bleacher seats 5 times, you get your 6th ticket, along with a beer, for free. Once you hit 10 games, you get 2 tickets & 2 beers...and so on. Applies to any section (club, bleachers, upper levels).

Indians marketing is terrible and it shows. The whole "what if?" campaign based on the past is a joke. Stop living off the 90's and promote current players.

It doesn't matter how they do in the majors. White most likely wouldn't have been hurt if he was here and Pomeranz would still be in AAA lighting up. We then could have traded them this year for someone better than the corpse of Ubaldo.

White was already hurt when they made the deal and has failed to fully recover from it ever since, so I'm not sure I follow that logic.

This is what bothers me. People STILL complain about the Indians not getting Curt Schilling and/or Pedro Martinez. Antonetti went for it, and I have no problem with that. It doesn't look like it will pan out - at this point I'm hoping Ubaldo can pitch like a #3 - but I have no problem with the aggressiveness. Maybe there wasn't a better SP out there for Pomeranz? Maybe the Indians don't view Pomeranz that highly? We'll never know.

All I know is that they went for it and, right or wrong, I'm glad they did...you have to be aggressive to win, especially when it comes to starting pitching.

If only Indians fans would the same. You do realize that is precisely why they are trying to connect this team to this 90's, right?

I think the premise of the commercial is quality but, as you said, they HAVE to stop living in the past. Don't fear change, embrace it.

In the end, it's entertainment. And the Indians are competing with not only other sports, but exactly what we're doing: watching the game while being on the computer.

How would you market this team? No power. No speed. No personality. No flamethrowers. It's a bland, mediocre bunch. Only hardcore fans are going to turn out to watch these guys in iffy weather without major promotions pushing people through the gates. The casual fan doesn't believe in the organization right now. It's going to take a run of sustained success to turn the attendance around.

Ubaldo is so disappointing.

You must not be on Twitter.

Again, don't the fans have to stop doing this first? Do you realize that fans didn't start showing up in 2007 until the Indians traded for Lofton?

The Indians base marketing on research. Research certainly told them that at least half of "fans" would rather see Sandy Alomar Jr. catching right now than Carlos Santana. The Indians, with this information in hand, put together a marketing campaign that tied those 90's heroes to the current team.

Get used to it. People want flashy players for the Indians and blue collar players for the Browns when it should be the other way around.

Yeah because they only market players from the 90's. People don't know who is on the team because they don't advertise them. They used to market the crap out of Grady and Hafner but now it's Kenny Loftons 10 year old catch and Jim Thome leading us to a sub .500 record last year.

Work with what you have (Santana, Kipnis, Choo, Asdrubal) and build off it.

Sans the local sports, have you seen ANY promotion that Jonny Damon has joined the team? I know he's Jonny fucking Damon, but he's certainly a name people recognize. They didn't do shit when Thome returned either.

well, cant say i was expecting to win this one facing sale anyways. hopefully tomlin builds on his last start tomorrow.

Yea, but the thing is they haven't marketed the current individual players/stars at all, which would confuse the average fan.

There is nothing for Tomlin to build on. He has below average stuff. The mass amounts of fly balls he gives up are either going to drop in someones glove or onto the grass, usually on the grass.
