2014-15 Off-Season Thread (Moss Acquired - Page 16)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Eh - I think I'm over the argument. If people can't enjoy their favorite team winning games and need to create stipulations to have fun with it, that's their problem.
Except it's the whole fanbases problem when people don't show up when they're winning in that it effects the team financially.

Do people really still have a problem with Indians ownership? As someone who doesn't trust the team to maintain winning in stretches, I don't know WTF kind of beef anyone could have with ownership at this point.

In all seriousness, I think it's that fans just don't trust the Indians to win. Whether they're right to feel that way or not is pretty pointless. They either show or they don't. And they do show late in the season when the Indians are on a playoff run or during the playoffs. And again, whether you like that or not...it is what is. That's what the fans do.

I'm just curious if I went to 10 disillusioned Indians fans and asked why they weren't going to games, if they'd actually complain about ownership. Maybe they would...

Showing up on a playoff run isn't supporting the team.

They were in the playoff hunt for the better part of two seasons now. A week to ten days of support isn't anything.

You have no argument, you've been thoroughly worked over in this thread. Tuck that tail between your legs and slowly walk home a defeated shell of a man.

I just don't think Clevelanders like baseball all that much. Before 1994 there were like 40 years of bad teams and bad attendance. It's not a baseball town. New park, no Browns, historically good team inflated the numbers for like 6-7 years, and then it went back to normal.

I notice no one in Cleveland discusses baseball outside of the Indians. Clevelanders love football - people are always willing to talk about every game the past Sunday. Even basketball gets some love. But you'd never hear two random Clevelanders discuss a Dogers vs Giants game.

There's teams that have won way less and been run way worse than the Indians that still outdraw them. People act like it's the way the Indians run their team - but they're a franchise. We know this same product works in other cities. it just doesn't here. Probably don't need to look much deeper than that.

Nobody talks about hockey but that doesn't stop it from outdrawing the NBA percentage wise. Just another worn out excuse for people that think they're sticking it to "the man".

Those numbers are just typical Dolan whoa is me subterfuge. I was at several of those games and they were at or near full capacity.

4.5 games is way too far out for a young team with limited talent to get back in the race anyways.

Tall to me when they're .5 back or 4.5 ahead and tell me the fans don't show.

smh Cleveland fans just too spoiled by all the winning they won't support anything but a sure-thing anymore. They won't cheer for lovable underdogs like blue-collar Boston fans will.

Cleveland is not a baseball town...never will be..now lets talk about the upcoming season

I like how Jig and Boobie are basically just test arguing to keep their claws sharp for the next troll that dares cross their path. That's good stuff.

It's a baseball problem in general, guys. It's too slow, so slow that the old wrinkly baseball establishment is actually lifting a finger or two to try to fix it. Might be too late though. There's too much to do now, too many distractions, channels, apps on the smartphone. A consistent winner and lower ticket prices would help, but the problem is baseball itself. Might as well be golf to most kids nowadays.

On topic - I think if they get off to a good start and stay healthy for once, 91 wins is completely realistic. Love the Moss pickup and our rotation looks real solid. In Tito I trust. Go Tribe.

Last thing, I have to wonder if the perception of Cleveland fan is still based on a movie that came out 30 years ago...
