2014-15 Off-Season Thread (Moss Acquired - Page 16)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Huge Cactus League pickup.

I don't think given the circumstances in Cleveland sports, fans in any other city or region would behave differently.

Well, if you won't give me blue collar then surely you'll give me depressed economic climate.

And so the argument is that several hundred thousand people would rather revel in the experience of having a shitty sports franchise than experience what the Pats, Steelers and Spurs have or even what the SF Giants, Cardinals or Seahawks have been doing?

Ok.

Win and there's nothing to complain about. People still blame the consumer instead of the manufacturer. You can't convince me to get angry with the consumer until they're being given a winner of a product. When Cleveland franchises have given the fans playoff teams, they've supported them. When they've been dominant fans have been happy and bitched minimally. And by golly...they seemed to enjoy the winning more thab the losing!

I'm not gonna go around and around on this because I'm certain you know I'm right and just don't like the answer.

Yup.

But who cares at this point. I've accepted the Indians are what they are. 85 wins is considered a great year for them. A playoff berth even if they attain zero wins in said playoff is a fantastic stellar season that should tide fans over for a decade before they're allowed to be unhappy again. Just how it is. With these expectations, I can just enjoy the season to be honest.

Was surprised to see ESPN rank the Indians so high in their preseason rankings. Should be another fun season. Hopefully we get two playoff teams in Cleveland this year.

Have a dynasty, they'll get more support.

We get it. It's stunning analysis.

Unfortunately, most other cities don't act the same.

Missed the point, per usual.

No, your point is clear. Win and the people will come.

But you're wrong, there is a deeper loathing of the Indians because of bias against the owner. It's obvious, and not like every other franchise around the league who supports their team at a more consistent level despite less results.

Win and they'll come!

Scary thing for Indians right now is that they can't even get bandwagon fans. Had a game where they were 2 games back of a playoff spot in September last year - perfect weather - and set the Progressive Field record for least attended game ever in September.

That wasn't enough winning.

Not nearly meeting the arbitrary standard of three straight playoff appearances to break this madness.

Going to need alot more winning for them to support the team, and sure other team's don't have such a standard, but Cleveland is no different...or something like that.

Blue collar town.

You two never could get enough.

Eh - I think I'm over the argument. If people can't enjoy their favorite team winning games and need to create stipulations to have fun with it, that's their problem.

Exactly, I'll just make fun of people who fail to see the difference with other teams throughout the league.

The argument isn't even an argument anymore. The other side is just so wholly wrong that it stopped having any credibility some time ago.

I sort of enjoy how hard Cleveland fans went after Heat fans for being bandwagon fans while describing exactly what they mocked Heat fans as stipulations to be Indians fans. "You have to win. And have stars. And be consistently good for a few years." Um...so what's the definition of bandwagon, again?
