I like Jimmy Butler but I think the Bulls have a major quality depth problem at the 2 and 3. I don't buy that McDermott can stay on the court in the playoffs if asked to play SF. In crunch time they have 4 PFs(Gasol, Gibson, Mirotic, Gibson) but only one can see the floor at a time in the last six minutes. In the first and maybe second round, that depth will help overwhelm lesser teams, but against the Cavs and other teams with equal and greater talent, it's not going to have the same impact.
All those PFs seem like a net gain over Boozer but Boozer didn't play in crunch time anyways. Nor is there any proof McDermott or Mirotic can play any better defense than Boozer.
Butler is a great neutralizer against many wing players, but in a sense, he's wasted on LeBron because no one really stops LeBron. Yes he can make things difficult for Bron, but it's not the same net positive that he gives the Bulls against a lot of other players who he can actually shut down.
Ultimately, when it comes to the final 6 minutes of the game, when we have LeBron, Kyrie and Love on the floor at the same time, I just don't believe the Bulls individual or team defense can stop us the way they might be able to do against lesser teams.
