2014 Cleveland Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah our receiving corp looks SO shitty without Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron.....

Hawkins 8th
Gabriel 9th
Benjamin 18th
Austin 44th
Barnidge 18th

The whole "lack of weapons" talk is a total joke. People in the other thread are talking about how Hoyer is doing so well with so little talent around him. We literally have TWO WR's playing at a Pro Bowl level= talentless players, I guess. I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed when Gordon gets back our passing game still looks the same or maybe even slightly worse.

I never said they were "SO shitty."

Someone was going to put up stats on this team by default. Am I happy the guys this year have played well? Yes because it makes us a deeper and better team when some other guys get back. But I'm not about to say with a straight face that Hoyer has a great pro-bowl laden receiving corp around him right now.

And you're basically making an argument that adding Cameron and Gordon will make us the same or worse?

This is like saying that if Kevin Love missed time and Tristan played a few great games, bringing Kevin Love back would make us worse. I just don't buy that at all.

Today is a day to celebrate a win rather than bitch about members opinions... but let me know when any of the receivers blocks downfield. It drives me nuts, especially when the running back blows past the front seven. But hey, a win is a win is a win.

The only time (well, Jim Leonhard) I got angry last night was when on a third and long Miles Austin was a foot short of the 1st down because Benjamin fucking stood there and didn't even try and lay a block. Austin need a half a second to get over.

We are going to get the NFL's leading receiver from last year and our Pro Bowl tight end back...and maybe get worse??? That defies any logic whatsoever.

I was listening to Deion Sanders and he was saying that the crew had to do more homework on last night's game than any game the whole season because they knew so little about our offense. "They got a bunch of rookies, undrafted cats and low draft picks that i've never even heard of...we were all like, Benjamin, Gabriel, Barnidge, Grey? How are these guys 5-3? How is he throwing for over 200 yards every single week?". He said it's Brian Hoyer and the experienced offensive line making these guys shine until the reinforcements are brought back in. The best was when he said, "Take away Jordan Cameron and plug in Greg Barnidge...doesn't matter to Brian Hoyer". :chuckle:

Well, my point was basically that the quality of play with our receivers is so high right now, it's going to take an extraordinary effort by Gordon to take the offense to another level-- as many have alluded to. According to PFF, we currently have 2 receivers playing at a higher level than Gordon did last year. We'll be so deep into the season that when he comes back I'm not sure how much of the system will/should be changed to accommodate him when it's been working without him, ya know?

I don't really know what to think of Cameron. He has nearly 300 snaps over 6 games in this system and he ranks as one of the worst TE's in the NFL. I hope I'm wrong and Gordon ignites the offense but I don't think they're gonna start throwing the ball all over the yard now....

If there is a system that says two receivers this year are outplaying Gordon's effort last year, the system isn't working.

Gordon had around a dozen ugly drops last year, but the production is unquestioned. The receivers this year are taking advantage of a system that gets them open... but Gordon could run a post pattern against perfect coverage and still get a 35+ yard gain consistently.

No disrespect to PFF, but a wide receiver's production doesn't happen in a vacuum. Hoyer's throws, the line's protection, and most importantly the play calling from Shanahan all play a role in those stats.

The receivers playing right now for the Browns aren't playing like slouches. That said, I don't buy into PFF's numbers saying Gordon may not have a big impact...

I'll buy a Jets jersey if they can win today.

He's getting it done regardless who is around him. Like Brady has done his entire career.

Let's just call him Tom Brady Jr.

First place, baby!

I just painted my ball sack orange.

If the season were over today, we'd be hosting KC in the wildcard.

Looking at the schedules, it will probably take 11 games to win the division and 10 plus a tiebreaker to make the playoffs. Actually it may take 12 for the division.

Either way Sunday against Houston is a must win.
