2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The more I keep looking at the remaining free agent bigs that would accept the vet minimum, the more I am starting to think that it is entirely possible that Brenda Haywood is a better option than all of them. That is sad. Very sad.

Jermaine O"Nale last year. I would love him at the vet min. Him and Allen. I dont think Powell gets signed.

If we can keep him healthy, he's my top vets minimum choice. He isn't a liability on either end of the floor (like he was in Toronto).

I've seen Jermaine O'Neal stink up so many teams, i'd much rather give a young guy a chance.

I'd actually like Shawn Marion a lot, but I'd bet he can get quite a bit more than the vet minimum. He'd play the Battier role of playing small ball with him at the 4. It'd actually still help the big man rotation. AV and TT at C and Bennett, Marion, and some TT at PF.

He averaged 10 and 6 last year and shot 36% from 3. No chance he takes the vet min.

And the Mavs GM wouldnt have been so adamant about not being able to keep him if he was willing to take the vet min.

Eric Bledsoe ain't getting a max...Are there any teams out there with cap space that would even offer him that?

According to league sources Allen is on the verge to agreeing to a veteran minimum one-year deal with Cleveland and an announcement is expected within the next 24-48 hours regarding a final deal.

According to league source Ray Allen is leaning towards playing next season & Cavs are the team he'd do it for. "We'll get an answer soon."

Not sure if all of these sources are just regurgitating the same rumor, but it looks pretty promising...

Is Bledsoe fucking high?

Ray Allen news gettin me turned on, I love it. Even tho his playoff run last year was trash. But still a vet who knows the game and Blatt can plug and play him and get production without thinking

His agent is Rich Paul...this isn't a good sign when we have to deal with TT's RFA next summer.

Agents represent their clients and their representation changes from client to client. They advise the player, but it is the player that ultimately decides to accept or reject an offer. Bledsoe probably feels slighted by the initial Phoenix offer. He also probably doesn't like that Phoenix's matching ability has kept other teams away. And the fact that they went and got another PG while holding him hostage.

I think this is more about Bledsoe's ego and him thinking that he is numero uno in Phoenix than it does Rich Paul.

What's even more sad is that, with the way things are looking, we WILL have to trot Brendan Haywood's corpse out on the court ten+ minutes a game...SHUDDER
