2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

if Ray Allen decides to sign with the Spurs or Clippers i wouldn't mind bringing in Ellington to fill out the roster.
I just saw the tweet and was thinking the exact same thing. I think I would almost rather have Ellington. Younger and would be a safer bet to play big minutes if called upon to do so. I know that Ray did last year but father time is undefeated and Ray is another year older

I love Wayne Ellington did anyone watch him at all last year?
He only played in 45 games last year. He had a PER of 12.29 and averaged just over 3 points a games. He shot over 40% from 3 and 90% from the line. The guy can stroke the ball. Not as well as Ray Allen but he still is still a shooter.

Ellington couldn't crack the rotation in Dallas, and was dumped to New York in the Chandler deal before eventually being sent to Sacramento with Jeremy Tyler and a pick in a trade for Travis Outlaw and Quincy Acy. As far as I know, he's still in Sacramento.

Not as good as Ray Allen, and you'd have to work out a trade to get him. He seemed solid compared to the garbage we had when he was here, but he's also been dumped for peanuts by two playoff teams in the last 2 years.

He is also younger and more apt to defend than Allen is. Not saying he is the answer but he would be a good camp invite to see how he meshes with the bench. He is not a huge game changer but he had a nice stroke while wearing wine and gold. I'm guessing he was traded more for his contract which is tough to earn a spot in that situation.

How can you invite him to camp when he's on another team?

Plus, it's not like Ellington is known as a defender. He's a decent enough player to continue his career riding the pine on above average teams or playing the rotation on poor ones. He's not better than Ray Allen though, not even at Allen's advanced age.

No real reason for us to be discussing him since he's on another team's roster right now.

Marc Stein is reporting he was waived yesterday

1. He was waived yesterday for capspace. 2. I did not say he was a known defender. I said he is more apt to defend then Allen (who isnt) 3. I did not say he was better than Allen. But their game at this point is similar 4. I still think he would be an excellent camp invite especially if Allen chooses somewhere else or to retire.

I would LOVE to pick up wayne Ellington. He would be a perfect fit on this team. I love love love his game. I was pleasantly surprised with him when we got him a couple years ago, he was a very productive player. He was a very good defender, played smart, knew how to pick his spots, surprisingly good at taking the ball to the rack off the bounce, had way more athleticism than I originally thought, and he can stroke the long ball as well as anyone in the league and has a very pretty stroke. If we decide to bring dion off the bench I think Ellington is the man to start at the 2 with kyrie, bron, love, and Andy. He would be a great fit

If we don't get Ray idc either way, but Ray is basically the prize of the rest of the offseason in my eyes.

And Okafor of course

Love the scouting report up until you think he could beat out Dion at the 2 then it went of the rails but to each his own.

Miller would just start if we really want Dion off the bench.

But think we're forgetting about Joe Harris. I'm not sure Wayne is even better than him. Why spend the money?

I like Ellington and yes he could handle more minutes than Allen but I think the keys for Allen to the Cavaliers is his playoff experience and reputation. I say reputation because I think part of his appeal to the Cavaliers might be to help Kyrie to learn to play off the ball. Yes coaches can do this but having one of the best shooters to lend some insight might help speed up the process.

Man I don't know where to post, so I'll just start here.

Is anybody else having a hard time comprehending what is about to happen to us? I can't even wrap my mind around LeBron James being on the floor again for the Cleveland Cavaliers. That Miami stint has put up a road block in my mind.

Is anybody else of the mindset: I'll believe it when I see it?

Perhaps it's the mentality of your average Clevelander. Nothing, and I mean nothing like this ever happens to Cleveland.

It's hard to wrap my mind around, seems like something conjured up by my imagination.

Or perhaps it's because we waded through 4 years of mud, toil, and perpetual letdown.

The Browns will be the Browns, and we still have 60 days to wait until the Cavaliers tip off.

This wait seems like an eternity compared to the Wiggins contract, waiting for a team that seems too good to be true, to your lifelong Clevelander.

Grueling waiting for this. Still can't wrap my mind around it.

Think about Austin Carr he was drafted in 1970. 30 years go by, multiple letdowns, never reach the end goal. Three years after that, you get LeBron James, a top 5 player of all time..... Still no championships after 7 tries with him, so he bails.

We're lucky as fuck to have LeBron back, but what I don't think we're comprehending is that we just made perhaps the biggest acquisition in franchise history. If Love eventually helps get us a championship, there's no argument; facts say this was the biggest transaction in the history of the franchise.

Think back to 1970 with AC, now fast forward 44 years, to this summer, and we might have just acquired the piece who will put us over the top.

Mind boggling, leaves only the imagination to run wild. LeBron James is back, for good, and he's recruiting. Can't believe I'm even uttering that as a factual statement. Unreal.

Uh no, I'm probably actually dion waiters biggest supporter in the world, he's probably already my favorite cav of all time in his first two season lol. Many people seem to believe the cavs best option would be to use dion as a spark plug/ punch off the bench in the manu ginobili/ james harden in okc role. IF blatt decides to go that route, I think Ellington would be a near perfect fit at the 2 in this lineup
