2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Points against Amundson are that he really isn't a center. He hasn't played much at all the last couple of years so it's hard to say whether he is still the same player he was back a few years ago. He can block shots on defense, or at least used to, and gets offensive rebounds.

I really preferred some of the other guys we discussed here, especially Stiemsma, who was attainable since he signed with Toronto for the minimum.

Agree: we really don't have anybody with a center's size outside of AV and he's more of a hybrid C/PF. When you think of his injury history, it's the one thing that could easily derail us next year.

Amundson would just be a warm body, he will be 32 shortly after the season begins, and he would be lucky to average 10mpg. I am not knocking depth signings, but let's stay realistic here.

We really need to get better at the end of the bench. HOPEFULLY it won't matter due to good health, but the end of our bench is REALLY, REALLY awful. Obviously, I don't expect studs 15 deep, but I'd like to have some guys that won't kill you if they were forced into playing time at the end of the bench.

Murphy, Powell, Thomas, Kirk, Lucas, Haywood, and maybe even Harris are barely borderline NBA players.

Keeping hearing we've signed Joel Anthony but nothing to confirm this yet.

You won't get anything to confirm it because he is currently signed by the Celtics

He opted in for 2014-2015 with the Celtics but apparently the ESPN Top-500 player rankings listed him as a Cav (at least on first release).

Trying to look around for a realistic cheap big on a bad team that might want to trade them for a Utah contract to save some money. How about Reggie Evans? Can't block a shot, but he is probably the strongest guy in the NBA and the most annoying guy in the NBA. Wouldn't mind a Cavs era Ben Wallace with no shotblocking ability at the end of the bench. :chuckle:

Yeah I saw that. And the twitter handle they give for him is @MiamiHEAT. He's suiting up for all 3 this year. Leave it to a Canadian to give it 310%.

Not seeing any way that wasn't sarcasm.

Please tell me how the Heat are stacked.

Unless you are being sarcastic.

The Heat aren't really stacked at all.

I don't think the Heat are stacked, and I'm not worried about them, but they don't exactly look like a laughing stock team, either.

pg-Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole, Shabazz Napier
sg-Dwayne Wade, Shannon Brown, Reggie Williams
sf-Luol Deng, Danny Granger, James Ennis
pf-Chris Bosh, Josh McRoberts, Shawne Williams
c-Chris Anderson, Udonis Haslem, Justin Hamilton

In the East, that'll still get you the 4-8 seed pretty easily.

The HEAT have two guys who can create, Wade and Bosh, with the remaining roster spots full of role players. If/when Wade goes down with injury or takes games off, their offense will be atrocious.

I agree 100%. Last year they could rest wade and play him a career low 32 minutes a game. Thats impossible this year. He has to play heavy minutes to create. And not one of their point guards has proven that they can even run an offense. Especially one that doesnt have all the defensive attention on Lebron. They are in trouble.
