A Portland sports radio host breaking the biggest NBA free agent news of the summer? I don't know...

^^ Who is John Canzano?

We lost Finnan he's trashed :chuckles:

I saw it on the Hoopshype media twitter feed, he had more than 25k followers. But yeah seems unlikely he would know first.

Canzano is a Blazers reporter and radio host. He's written lots of good features about the Blazers. No idea, of course, what his connection is to what's going in Miami but it only takes one source.

I know, I know, the source...

Deng need to quit flexxin and just resign

Without us overpaying, why would he?

Nobody is gonna overpay for Deng but im sure we have a solid offer on the table

Dude's realizing he waited too long to test FA seriously. He might as well take the 7-9 mil were probably offering him because I know its more than anyone else is probably offering. He just looks silly now

If, in fact, this is the case, then Miami is sunk in terms of materially upgrading that team. Even if Bosh and Wade took significant cuts in their contracts, LeBron's max in Miami is over $22 million. That's a $4 million dollar raise from last year for him, likely eating up all savings from Bosh plus some of Wade's savings.

They might entice a veteran or two on the wrong side of the career arc, but they aren't getting Deng or Lowry.

For the record, it is so annoying in day one of free agency and 99% of the NBA writers' twitter feeds are basically giving World Cup play by play...

Maybe not such a good source? LOL.

If we're giving up 8 million a year either way, give me Ariza over Hawes every time.

Why? Hawes is a 26 year old center who knows how to pass the ball and can spread the floor at a position where that's hard to find, not to mention the fact that the only people competing for our center spot are Zeller and Varejao. Ariza is a 29 year old mediocre small forward who provides us with nothing we don't already have and takes away time from the players we are trying to develop.
