2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we sign any one who is a RFA we should give Monroe a look

I'm getting really tired of the treadmill argument.

If we don't get Lebron, who exactly are we getting that puts us over the top right away?

The development of Wiggins, Kyrie, Bennett, Waiters etc will determine our upside.

Hayward would be a solid player and fit very well with Blatt and Kyrie and Wiggins.

If we can snag him at a decent price or in a decent value S and T, it would be a good move.

The amount the Cavs would have to pay to sign him, would not make this so solid. Might as well make a play for Monroe at center.

Sup guys. I was torn between Parsons and Hayward until I saw a comment that stated about Hayward being on a bad team. Parsons has shown he can contribute on a playoff team and be a key piece. That's good enough for me, I know who I want between those two now.

As for Monroe, I posted a thread on him but right now I don't know if he's worth a max. He's intriguing and we could potentially to a sign & trade and ship Karasev to Detroit since they need shooters and we drafted Harris. I'm just judging by the pictures I saw of Karasev, he doesn't seem to be working hard on his game.

Monroe is not a defender, nor does he stretch the floor. Essentially, he has several holes in his game for what we should be shelling out for at the 5.

I get what you are saying, but if Hayward played with Howard and Harden, I'm sure he would look pretty good too.

Agree 100%. Don't know if I want either, they won't help us be contenders.

I wasn't making the treadmill of mediocrity argument, though I could. It was a metaphor for the Cavs working so hard to spend all of that money and not going anywhere (making the team better). And bringing in Hayward ends the Cavs development of Waiters, so you can cross him off of your list.

The treadmill comes into play when you're capped out. To me, CJ Miles gives me what Hayward could do at a fraction of the price.

How do Griffin see Wiggins as a SG? This is what annoys me.

I would much rather have Parsons, too, if we were to go and get another SF.

I'm not saying we should throw max level $ at Hayward, but lets not pretend that the bolded part is anywhere close to the truth.

Haywood, not Hayward will be a big asset if we do cap out next summer.

Either way, I'm not really buying our interest in all these players. As a team with lots of cap space, I think agents are using the Cavs to boost value on their clients.

I'd be a little surprised if we did go after Hayward without Lebron being decided.

Either way, I'm higher on Hayward than most, I'll admit that. I think he would fit very well here.

I like Hayward and think he is a good player. If we draft Embiid then I would be all for bringing in Hayward. But I'm not interested in blowing our cap to replace a good, improving young player with someone who might currently be marginally better, but won't be for long, when we have much more pressing needs.

Pretty sure David Pick is the best Cavs reporter right now. He doesn't even cover the Cavs.

I really want to figure this out. So the cap is around $63 million but what about the fact that teams can go over and pay luxury tax like the heat did last year and had combined salaries of 80 million and the crazy Nets were at 104 million (and lost an absurd 144 million last year LOL).

Why does it seem like everyone is absolutely constrained by the $63 million cap right now?
