2014 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
this OT but I do not have any idea if you any of you guys follow College Baseball but I have a buddy who went to my high school who was a grade below me who plays for Vanderbilt and has a 20 game hit streak going right now. His name is Xavier Turner and plays 3rd base

Yep, I've got a buddy who is cousins with Xavier. Dude was crazy in high school but I haven't followed him as much at Vandy.

Wasn't Turner originally committed to Ohio State then bailed last second?

Yes he was but bailed for a better program and competition...the guy is probably the best player ever from the sandusky area...21 game hit streak now which is crazy for a sophomore in the best baseball conference in the country

RHP Dylan Baker (Carolina) broke his ankle. Tough break for him and the system..hopefully he comes back strong he's a good starting pitching prospect for the Tribe.

With the amount of middle infielders we have, I struggle behind the rational of us keeping all of them. Someone who's a little more versed in that, can you answer why they'd look at Lindor/Ramirez/Wendle/Paulino as future players up the middle when Lindor is probably the only one of a big contributing player? With Lindor and Kipnis blocking up the middle, what's the value on a Ramirez or Wendle?

Also, do we have any real future at LF/RF in the minors?

Ramirez is most likely a utility guy, Wendle isn't really a prospect from what I've gathered, and Paulino probably moves to the OF at some point although he's still at too low of a level to even worry about people blocking him.

For those who don't follow MiLB, let me know if you want me to do like a weekly rundown on how some of the prospects are doing, good or bad:

edit: let me know if you want me to add or even subtract some players

I'll gladly help look up stats or post if you need/want me to or if you know you're going to miss a week.

I'm going to do a Hot/Not type thing in the individual minor league team threads myself, so I'll be looking over the stats a lot myself.

saw a knowledgeable Tribe fan on twitter today who floated the idea of trading Lindor straight up for Taveras from St Louis (#2 prospect in baseball, 21 year old 5 tool outfielder). His thought process was the Indians are really strong up the middle and lacking in outfield depth. Thoughts??

I'll pass on that, Lindor is a plus plus makeup guy as well as playing a more valuable position on the diamond.

To boot, they're not that strong up the middle.

Paulino isn't a shortstop and can't get out of A ball right now, Rodriguez is also not passable there.

Ramirez might be, but doesn't have nearly the skillset Lindor has and looks better suited to be a utility guy.

What do you project Lindors ceiling??

Not to mention Taveras can't get healthy
