Jamarcus Russell was drafted #1 overall. Sucked dick.
What the fuck does that have to do with Johnny Manziel being drafted high?
Peyton Manning went #1. Cam Newton went #1. Andrew Luck went #1. They are great. They also have no bearing on how Johnny Manziel does against NFL defenses.
Tom Brady? Russell Wilson? Plenty of good qbs go in the later rounds. Suggesting that draft position implies a good NFL career is asinine.
Russell Wilson was drated in the 3rd round, hardly "the later rounds." Since plenty of good QBs go in those later rounds (I'd consider 5-7), please continue that list. I'll even throw in QBs going in the 4th round, which is normally a midround pick but I'll let it slide. Active QBs who can be considered good drafted in the 4th round or later.
I'll wait for the list.
But I wasn't implying being picked early implies a good NFL career, I was more letting the NFL talent evaluators decide for us who the better QB talent is. We can surely agree that the NFL does a pretty good job of identifying elite QB talents, they usually get drafted in the first round. I think Manziel is an elite talent, hence I think he gets drafted early. Disagree? Let's put some money on it.
If Aaron Murray is the better NFL talent than Johnny Football surely he'll be drafted within 30 picks of him, no? Making bets that last 5 years seems absolutely pointless to me. That being said,
I will bet you $100 that in five years Manziel won't crack the top 20.
Let's make it $200.
