• No one is talking about the Browns making a head-coaching change, but if they do it won't surprise some people around the league. The reason is not that Rob Chudzinski has done a poor job, though. It's that the Browns didn't get who they wanted a year ago. The new Browns management team went after Chip Kelly, Jon Gruden and Nick Saban last offseason and might be inclined to make another pitch for a big name. The management team thought the Browns could be a .500 team this season after going 5-11 in 2012. If the Browns lose in Pittsburgh Sunday, they'll finish 4-12. Another interesting point: Money is not an issue to team owner Jimmy Haslam, so having to pay off the last three years of Chudzinski's contract probably would not deter him from making a move.

Grossi said today he thinks the Browns will cut D'Qwell Jackson who is due a 4 million dollar roster bonus this offseason

I think there will always come a time to cut bait with overpaid, aging vets. In this case, I hope they hold out a bit longer.

He's the anchor of that defense both as a player and as a leader. I'd like to see him stick around a bit longer to influence guys like Mingo or any incoming rookies.

Can't money absolutely be an issue with Haslam given his recent issues? Or have new things come to light without me knowing that are positive?

Jimmy is rolling in cash right now.

He sold the stadium naming rights, and had the most un-used cap space in the league this year. On the field it has been a shit year but for his pocket book it has been a raging success.

Is this just Grossi being Grossi? Jackson isn't Patrick Willis but he's the kind of player you need to fill out the rest of your roster to complement your star players to be a good team. $4 million for Robertson and I cut him loose without hesitation, but I really consider paying it for Jackson. Guess we'll see, but I'm afraid our defense will be mediocre next season if we lose Jackson/Ward/Horton. Its been the only thing worth watching outside of Gordon this season.

Is this just Grossi being Grossi?

I don't think so. His cap number next year is $8.1 million.

Joe Banner has never been big on paying vets big money, and it is very possible a value judgment could be made that they can find a younger, cheaper alternative to do the same thing.

“But I know the business. I’m getting older. I signed a contract with a different regime. You think about those things. But, end of the day, I can only deal with what I can. If things change, I have to deal with it.”

That quote is from DQ himself. You get the sense he knows whats coming.

Grossi just said on WKNR that he thinks Houston will take Manziel at #1. FWIW.

I really am hoping that the Browns lose one more and Jacksonville wins to secure the 3 spot and really get the Browns in the Bridgewater mix.

I have a feeling Grossi is pals with a beat writer in Houston and that's the Houston beat writer's opinion.

And my prediction holds semi true: Browns will send 5 to the Pro Bowl.

Haden, Mack, Thomas, Gordon, Cameron.

And an absolute shame that Ward was snubbed.

Browns have the most Pro Bowlers in the AFC North.

Mary Kay tweeted that TJ is an alternate right now, so he's not totally ignored.

The FBI?

Bill O Brien is still highly regarded by Banner, and probably Lombardi due to his Belicheck ties. Personally, I wanted Chip last year, and then started to warm to the idea of Trestman as a "QB Whisperer"; that said, Chud could still be the guy to bring us from the cellar. Regarding that slop from Bleacher Report, I'm not sure who they Browns' brass would have their eyes on; perhaps an overture to O'Brien to gauge interest, but I can't think of anyone else off hand.

Curious that all three of the former teams of our HC/DC/OC are all in the playoff conversation their first year minus Chud/Horton/Norv. I don't think it's a curse, but it is pretty 'typical' for Cleveland.

With this Grossi talk about Manziel in the mix at #1, perhaps I should drive down the road tomorrow to see Teddy B in the Russell Athletics bowl game?

TonyGrossi: There are some bad vibes indicating uncertainty about the future of #Browns HC Rob Chudzinski. Incredible
