@Triumph36 You seem very upset about that substitution.... why? It's a game in November that, as has been pointed out by another poster, the Thunder pretty much had in hand.
they did it at the start of the 2q when it was a 3pt game, not when the game was in hand. that would be entirely different of course.
i am not outraged; it's simply the principle of the matter. there is no reason to sit your 2 bonafide superstars together in non-garb time. none. ever. it should not enter the mind of one of the highest paid bball coaches in the world. experimenting is fine when there is sound reason behind it - obv not the case here.
also, it is only november but the fact is every game matters, especially in the west and
especially for what is one of the most star-centric teams in the league. does that mean you blow it up because of a poor stretch in november? no, but you don't treat it as if they are throwaway games and start all sorts of careless experimental crap either.
i will admit part of me takes a sick pleasure in criticizing okc, and especially donovan because of how bad the hire was given the big picture. hiring coaches direct from college just doesn't work much (stevens has been a rare exception, but also makes almost half the $ as billy). the two notable college hires from this past off-season have both been worse than their predecessors. in the case of donovan, the rotations still suck, the defense is far worse, and the crunchtime offensive gameplan is still terrible. not only has donovan completely failed to address the biggest problems okc had with brooks, but he's costing them significantly more money to boot. he gets $2M more per year than brooks - something he is not even close to being worth.
you know what the kicker is, though? just a tad over $2M a year was the difference between what they offered harden and what he was ultimately paid. yes, i realize it would've ultimately been a bit more than $2M because of tax and such. the point is they refused to pay a small amount to retain the best sg in the league, yet they jumped at the opportunity to pay a similarly small amount for an overhyped college coach that didn't even fix any of their problems. gotta admire their priorities, right?
Wassup with the Clippers?
their wing rotation is terrible aside from jj redick and deandre jordan is hugely overrated on the defensive end (lol at anyone who votes him as dpoy btw).
cue the people criticizing philly's culture and ignoring that he's an overemotional clown.
Poor Toronto Raptors. It should really affect their self-esteem when each time they beat someone, that opponent either has an epic locker room meltdown (Clippers) or a player-only meeting (Cavs). Says a lot about how other teams rate them
the raptors are really good....
