2015 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I guess I've seen enough from the committee in two years that I don't think they are going to vote like normal pollsters do. The fact that they refused to drop Notre Dame below UNC is a REALLY big difference from what you get from your normal AP-type voter. Notre Dame lost this week, UNC didn't, but the committee didn't care. They continued to look at the body of work, not just the most recent week.

Knowing that, they were extremely ready to drop Florida State last season if only they had lost a game. They were very unimpressed with Florida State despite them being the defending champs. But Florida State never gave them the chance to drop them out of the rankings by being the only undefeated team in the country last season. I just don't know that they are going to be swayed by Ohio State's past success. We'll see.

Totally agree with everything 100%. People are somehow forgetting that even prior to the loss to MSU, a 10-0 OSU was ranked 3rd behind Clemson and a one loss Bama and was closely trailed by a 1 loss ND.

This was despite being undefeated, going into the season as the undisputed number one team in the country, having a coach with championship pedigree, a team lined with All-Americans and All-Big Ten players, and playing in the strongest conference this year in college football.

Clearly the committee doubted OSU after 10 weeks. Did they really do anything to change those doubts in the past two weeks? Is losing at home to a team missing their starting QB impressive? The way they beat Michigan is how they should have been beating teams all year. They have one quality win all season and it took 11 weeks to finally get it. People need to remove the blinders.

I think there's more at play in all this: Notre Dame brings a much bigger fan base than UNC. Ohio State also brings in money, and everyone knows that nothing sells like Meyer vs. Saban. We have a chance to sneak in with a MSU win and a Clemson loss. That said, it really wouldn't surprise me if Stanford jumped us with a victory over USC simply because of their SOS.

I do think money is the secret factor no one talks about, and might be the reason OSU snuck in over TCU and Baylor last year, and may be the reason they sneak in again if they get some help from UNC and USC.
Money had zero to do with OSU getting in last year. OSU got in because they deserved it, period.

I would more say that because Baylor was the overall weaker team, but beat TCU H2H, the committee really couldn't put either team in.

OSU had a significantly better SOS than both. And a 12th win in a conference championship game.

When comparing the resumes of the three, it wasn't hard at all to reach the conclusion that the committee did.

Oklahoma needed to surive a 2 point conversion against TCU and their back up QB at home two weeks ago. Is that impressive? How about losing to a 7 loss Texas? Impressive?

People conveniently leave out the weather conditions that rendered passing nearly obsolete when they bring up the MSU QB situation.

It will be interesting for the committee. Last year was pretty easy on them. Baylor and TCU basically canceled each other out and the rest was pretty clear. An upset this weekend will be fascinating to watch.

People needed to remove the blinders last year too.

Houston should be in a NY6 bowl. Also, lol Baylor.

I expect a lot of steaming hot takes tonight...

Only if one of Clemson/Bama lose. If not, can't see there being any major controversy. Maybe over seeding, but not the 4 teams that make it.

OSU is the next man up if one of the top two go down.

Over. Done. Just need some magic to happen.

A Stanford blowout win or or a close BTCG could keep OSU out.

How can this Florida team be in a championship game. Like how is this possible.

Still recovering from the bad spot Urban left them in. Or so I've been told.

Oh yes, the shambles he left their program in...even though they won 11 games two years later :chuckle:
