2015 NFL Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, that is assuming you are lucky enough to have a draft class with enough top tier qb's/ Joe Thomas, Joe Haden and Alex Mack are not getting any younger. We missed our chance to tank during the Luck draft. Find a way to get an above average vet qb and make the playoffs. Enough with the tanking mind set.
A good March and April in 15 and we should be able to win 10 games next year.
The Browns have done a really good job so far of finding a QB in Free Agency or outside the top 10 of the draft.

So you want to intentionally tank with players still in their prime and vets that are hungry for the team to get into the playoffs, along with a fanbase that has scene one playoff performance in 15 years, so we might be able to take Hacknburg or Connor Cook 18 months from now? Seriously.

I want success. We will N E V E R find success without a franchise QB. For 20 (!) years the Browns have failed to sign a QB via free agency. They have only spent one top 10 pick on a QB, Couch, on the expansion team. Despite having over 10 (!) top 10 picks since Couch, the Browns have failed to take a player at the most important position in sports, a position in which the Browns have not seen any sort of positive production.

The Browns have exhausted all other options. There is only one way this franchise ever gets a QB. And that is with a top 10 pick.

But not a top 12 pick?

There is nobody to take this year at 12.

If it was top 10 (or close to top 5) maybe we could trade up...but not from 12.

Who will be there to take in the top 10 in 18 months that is your savior? You want to tank, and intentionally suck just in case there is a QB who is worth it? Sounds like a great plan. Oh by the way even if you tank, the QB you want will probably be taken before you (statistically that is the most likely scenario) but I guess we could always try to go 0-16, trade away anyone worth a dann, (since you want to secure that top pick) we can gaurentee ourselves Connor Cook May of 2016. Tell Joe Haden, Joe Thomas, Botinio and Mack to play half assed, and tell Pettine not to worry about sucking, even though he might lose his job. Hysterical.

Oh well.

Sorry 2015, you're just going to have to go fuck yourself.

I mean, or we can just keep pushing 5-7 win seasons without a QB every year. That's only been the case my entire life.

So your plan is to win no more than 7 games a season for another 20 years. Ok.

Or we could stop pretending the difference between getting a good QB and another bust is a Top 10 distinction.

The playoffs start this week.

Just two of those teams have got their QB from inside the Top 10 (Indy/Detroit).

EDIT: 3 teams (forgot Carolina)

Call me crazy, but maybe the difference is drafting the RIGHT GUY.

Maybe the right guy isn't even in the 1st round, either. Perhaps, the Browns can grab a guy a little later as to quell the inevitable, "you drafted the guy with a high pick, you've got to play him!" rhetoric. The Browns are going to continue to struggle if: 1) they keep turning-over schemes annually and; 2) Keep throwing guys in who aren't ready.

Identify yourself as a team/offense, then find the QB that will fit/flourish within. Don't draft a QB, then try to change the rest of the offense to fit the QB. Unless that QB is Andrew Luck-esqe. It'll be a lot easier for a rookie to know what offense he is going into with guys who've been in that offense before.

Clearly, the Browns are incapable of drafting the right guy.

Need to get lucky with a top pick, that is the only chance. I've given up on anything else.

No my plan is put a team together that is good enough to make the playoffs by winning 10 games or more. I dont lose on purpose when I have young talent entering their prime. Great Qb's do not grow on trees. If there was one at 12 to take this year, I would gladly run up to the podium. There is not one, so I take the best Available player that can develop into a core player for many years to come. I know we need a QB of the future, but you can't just lose all your games and secure that guy in the draft. That is not the way it works. Some years there are no top QB prospects in the entire draft, sometimes there are 4 guys work taking in the first. It is much more complicated then going 2-14 and assuming your savior will be waiting for you.
