The Greg Popovich of baseball wouldn't have this team above .500 right now. Tito has been squeezing blood out of stones for two years. He is one of our best assets. Not everyone will agree with every one of his decisions, but to think Leyland would come in here and do better than Tito is laughable.
Maybe not as a regular season Manager, but I believe Leyland had a very tough spring training camp which seems to come into play each year as being best friends with the players doesn't work in spring training. We just don't seem to be ready to play on day one.

A Jim Leyland team wouldn't roll over vs. its' interdivision rival year after year after year. We know because he didn't, the Tigers have owned the Tribe since he came on. I remember right after Leyland took over, the Tribe swept the Tigers in the opening series. He was bent out of shape after the game, talking about how guys were just ready 'to get to Oakland. If we win, that was fine, and if we lost that was fine too. This attitude has to stop and stop here' to paraphrase. Obviously the situations are different but the issue- trying to switch what had been a one-sided rivalry- is not. I just could not see Jim putting up with getting owned so consistently like that. When you consistently get beaten like a red-headed stepchild* by the team you need to hurdle to get into the Kenny Lofton-approved playoffs, I would think at some point maybe a different approach is warranted. It's up to Tito to find out how to do that.

*in no way condoning abuse of red-headed step children, Chardon.

Welcome back Salazar!

Team just needs hitting. We all know the pitching is our calling card.

Just got home. Turning Hammy on!

...hope it's not as depressing as last night.

BALLLLGAME

Sucks that we wasted Kluber's outing per usual though. That is gonna sting.

Apologies if I missed it earlier, but is Salazar up for a spot start/injury or is he now here indefinitely, dependent on his performance?

No PyroK Meter today, and the next thread will probably be up sometime later tonight.

Hopefully we can bury the Twins in the first three innings today.

They must have been tough if they're still ready to play early two years after Leyland's retirement.
