Odds are heavily against it because he's not a power guy. If all it took was being LH to have a shot at 25+ HRs, you'd think we'd have a couple more over the last few years.
Just appreciate Lindor for what he is.
So the odds are, he will never in his entire career, hit 25 home runs in a season, as left handed hitter (switch hitter, but he bats mostly left handed), because he does not have slugger power? Really?
That's the argument?
If he was a right handed hitter, I'd say okay....
And who said about anyone doing it? It's more about the swing for a left handed hitter, than just sure power. If you get your hands out in front of the ball fast enough, and he does have pretty damn quick hands, it's not that hard to hit a lot of home runs.
Would I bet on it happening at a regularity? No. Not at all. I don't say I think it will happen for certain, just that I can see that kind of production in a given season.
I see him as a 12-18 a year home run hitter through his year. Which probably isn't all that different as you see him.
But having one year where he just sees the ball extremely well, and has that kind of production unrealistic? Come on, 25 home runs as a career high, for a guy with some pop, hitting mostly left handed, at already age 21 displays some power as it is will likely just getting stronger as he ages. That's within possibility of happening.
It's not exactly as if Lindor is really small. 5-11, 190 pounds, that's not puny. His body still will fill out more.
He's never going to be slugger, I get that, I wasn't even making that case.
Shit man, Brady Anderson hit 50 home runs in a year. I get it was the steroid era, he probably was on them, but baseball is a fickle sport up and down, any hitter with sporadic power is capable of bursting out quite a bit for a particular season and having that kind of production. It usually happens at least once, especially with a left handed hitter.
