Nailed it. I supported LA during 3 peat untill I watched that series. Hard to be happy for them after watching the refs force them through.

Just my take here but Kobe was great but not in LeBron's world. I would take LeBron on D rebs ast and most of all effective scoring and Shaq while a real force inside would be a liability playing against the small ball.

Back in the day it was slow big guy vs slow big guy. Can anyone see Shaq being effective stopping small ball lineups? and committing hacka Shaq in clutch.

I guess it's a pro's vs con's thing with Shaq. He would get his scoring but beyond that not to sure.

Now a Kareem Magic imo would be scary in any era. Magic was over sized PG that has advantage on D over smaller guards. Effective shooting with insane court vision and Kareem wire frame plus size and insane blocking could guard deep threats. Even if they decided not shoot 3 and got by him he may still block your shot. Add the off the charts rebounding and the fact he was reasonable good FT shooter makes for some fun fantasy

He was definitely more mobile with magic. Him and Penny was great pair. Still a lot of mass to move. In a Sprint he probably could keep up with players much smaller but stop go left right would leave him at a disadvantage guarding GS and that magic Shaq looks much slimmer then LA shaq

He could have easily been considered the greatest of all time if he was more focused on his conditioning and free throws. He was unstoppable and I'd bet the nba would have eventually made rules to spite him.

In a way they did far as I'm concerned. I remember his first year him just backing guys down and dunking on them anytime he want. Then the refs started calling it offensive foul forcing him to refine post moves. It reminds me of LeBron and that hop step move he did his rookie year. Players got away with it for years but LeBron had it mastered to the point of ridiculousness and it was shortly after called a travel every time. Unspoken rules

All-time great defensive centers like Patrick Ewing, whom were big and athletic, could not even come close to handling Shaq alone, without help.

The Shaq Lakers would average well over 1.5 points per possession if/when GSW went small. Blazers went small when Sabonis rested with Sheed at center. It's a big part of why they lost in 2000. Shaq was unstoppable.
