You bring up a great point...Irving is being hounded by two great defensive players and still managing to find his game this series. He is likely licking his chops for the next guy to guard him.

Kyrie is unguardable. I remember when Pop put Kawhi on him, and Kyrie shredded him to pieces, too.

On a similar note, Avery Bradley has a reputation that lets him hand check like a mofo. Watch it closely and see how he always hand checks kyrie on every drive. He holds Kyrie's Jersey, he prevents Kyrie from going to areas on the floor with his hand and he is basically allowed to guard with different set of rules.

This is bullshit.

Kyrie totally saved Lue, the Cavs and Lebron last night. Wow.. thought we would have to play them 2 more games atleast with a further risk to get injured.

I really hope Kyrie is okay.. I thought it was all over at the time.

Yep, Kyrie was literally held the entire way to the basket, multiple times, without a whistle.

Yep.. Avery is overplaying him and the only reason Kyrie doesn't blow by him is because he is allowed to not only hand check but hold aswell.

Would you play Kyrie in game 5? I think we can win it with Deron as a starter.

If he's good to go. I rather close it out, then have him rest. He'll have some time off until the finals.

Tough decision but I don't think he is 100% either way if he plays. He can dress and go through shootaround and maybe play if he is needed? I dunno it's a tough decision either way, but I think Deron can definitely take his place if Lebron is back to normal.

I'm just afraid it might linger when we face GSW. Better be safe than sorry..

Kyrie is my favourite male alive.

He's definitely my favorite flat-earther. :chuckle:

Seriously though; hope his ankle sprain doesn't hinder him much.

We can't be yet another team to give GS another series against a team missing one of their star players.

If he's not right, I don't think you force Kyrie out there obviously. I think if he can play, and it's not swollen, then he should play.

FWIW, Kyrie said it never swelled up. Yeah, it will feel stiff. Unfortunately, he'll probably feel more so tomorrow.

Tough decision. We should be able to beat Boston without Kyrie. I'd say that more confidently if I didn't see what took place the last two games.

And what if LeBron is still sick? Let's hope we close it out tomorrow and Kyrie is fine.

The are pros and cons to either decision. Kyrie finaly started getting into his groove.. keeping him hot should help him in the finals.
Kyrie isn't going to sit unless he is instructed to and is in a pretty bad shape. He is a gamer, but resting that ankle might be the better outlook long term(finals).

It's not up to us either way, but like we saw today, we need him close to 100% against GSW. GSW can try and do their best trying to limit Lebron on the offensive end and dare him to shoot jump shots, they can't do that with Kyrie and the only one who is going to limit KYrie in the finals is himself.

I want Kyrie to play. It looks like he is returning to form. you don't want to mess that up.

When Kyrie is on, it might as well be a religious basketball experience.

Don't get me wrong, Lebron might end up being the GOAT, but his dominance is calculating, methodical and machine-like. He's like the terminator. It's predictable and inevitable that he will get his. (game 3 notwithstanding :chuckle:)

What Kyrie does is art, poetry, etc. It's a complete and utter mastery of basketball on the most fundamental skill level. He's not jumping higher than anyone, running faster than anyone, or baiting refs into terrible calls better than anyone. And by the time the other team realizes what is happening and coaches start making adjustments to coverage, it's too late. He absolutely will not be stopped by anything less than a double team 30 feet away from the hoop. His offensive repertoire is absolutely unique and transcendent.

I consider myself lucky to have witnessed another such performance again last night. Here's to hoping he has a few more in him reserved for the finals.

Kyrie is somewhat of an underachiever in my book. His skillset is so unique, so refined and for weird, unknown reasons he has yet to fully put his talents into the best product.

I have no doubts in my mind that Kyrie would have been a true MVP candidate if he were drafted by a franchise that is known for their developmental skills. Please point me to a player that has had that much talent right out of the gates.

This is the reason that at times he makes me wanting more and that's because I expect so much out of him.

Agreed. That's why nights like yesterday are special. They show glimpses of what he could and hopefully will be.

Also why I get so annoyed when people bring up Leonard. Sorry, I think Kyrie is still the right pick at number 1.

I can't deny Leonard is better, but it's laughable if anyone really thinks Leonard would be this good, with Byron Scott and Baked Potato at the helm.

Sure, Kyrie doesn't have Leonard's defensive skills, but he's still the better offensive talent IMO. Leonard had to be developed, and perfected most of his game under the greatest head coach ever.

That's not to say Leonard didn't have talent. He did, but can you imagine what Kyrie Irving might be if he were drafted by the Spurs?

His point guard skills would have flourished a long time ago. He'd have a more developed offensive game (which is scary)..

For years, many of us assumed he didn't have actual point guard skill sets, but that's not true. He does, as we've seen this year, he's just never had the right support system to help him to fully develop these talents.
