Also why I get so annoyed when people bring up Leonard. Sorry, I think Kyrie is still the right pick at number 1.

I can't deny Leonard is better, but it's laughable if anyone really thinks Leonard would be this good, with Byron Scott and Baked Potato at the helm.

Sure, Kyrie doesn't have Leonard's defensive skills, but he's still the better offensive talent IMO. Leonard had to be developed, and perfected most of his game under the greatest head coach ever.

That's not to say Leonard didn't have talent. He did, but can you imagine what Kyrie Irving might be if he were drafted by the Spurs?

His point guard skills would have flourished a long time ago. He'd have a more developed offensive game (which is scary)..

For years, many of us assumed he didn't have actual point guard skill sets, but that's not true. He does, as we've seen this year, he's just never have the right support system to help him to fully develop these talents.

Kyrie is just more talented and I have no doubts he would have developed much much better with a rigid, uncompromising system like the Spurs.

Cavs are just incompetent in that aspect for years now.

Even when a player doesn't have such eye popping talent like Kyrie, you see players such as Murray getting playing time in crucial parts of the playoffs and have a distinct role and not look out of place. It looks like you can basically plug and play every player to fit the Spurs and even the Warriors.
David Lee, Dedmon, Javale McGee,Bertans, Simmons, Ian Clark.. all have their roles. We don't have that luxury.

Even if the Cavs had a good development system, it's very hard to improve when you get very limited playing time and being a contender is not an excuse.

When Kyrie is on, it might as well be a religious basketball experience.

Don't get me wrong, Lebron might end up being the GOAT, but his dominance is calculating, methodical and machine-like. He's like the terminator. It's predictable and inevitable that he will get his. (game 3 notwithstanding :chuckle:)

What Kyrie does is art, poetry, etc. It's a complete and utter mastery of basketball on the most fundamental skill level. He's not jumping higher than anyone, running faster than anyone, or baiting refs into terrible calls better than anyone. And by the time the other team realizes what is happening and coaches start making adjustments to coverage, it's too late. He absolutely will not be stopped by anything less than a double team 30 feet away from the hoop. His offensive repertoire is absolutely unique and transcendent.

I consider myself lucky to have witnessed another such performance again last night. Here's to hoping he has a few more in him reserved for the finals.

Well said. My only knock on him is his atrocious "offense to defense" ratio (new made up stat!). His offense, more precisely his scoring, is so skilled and deadly that I remain mystified at how bad his defense is compared to it. Not Harden levels mind you, though still head scratching.

I think KI's benchmark at the draft was Chris Paul, or not?

If his body woundn't betray him all the time then I think he'd be a much a better pick n roll defender which would change the narrative about 'em. Although he's a pretty poor off ball defender as well which is really a lack of focus on his part.

I heard they had to amputate Kyrie's bad ankle but he's going to give it a try in game 5 anyhow.

Oh look, an in-depth discussion on why Kyrie's not better than he is.

Sweet.

You do realize, you're the one that's trolling at this point, right?

Everyone is having a healthy and overall positive discussion on Kyrie. Then you come in, find something that you don't like (like really small), and you get up-tight about it. Then you make your typical snarky comment, then on your way you go.

Great contribution you're adding! I don't even have a problem with you, for the record.

If you'd go back to just adding insights on Kyrie, like you did before, and not having a stick up your ass and being so sensitive about him, everything would be fine.

I said that Kyrie would be a better player, under a better system. Is that really such an outrageous thing to say?

As many have mention, your schtick is getting really old in this thread. I don't even think parents get this uptight over their kids, the way you do over Kyrie.

Has there been any "official" word on Kyrie's ankle and his status for tonight's game?

Who knows.. at this point he might even be his son.
