2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Completely agree. I think Mahomes will be a disaster if he's lucky enough to ever become a starter.

Mahomes played in a system where they ran numerous option routes. I believe he made a lot of plays both in and out of the system he was in. But his system also called for him to hold the ball longer and try to make plays down the field. It should be noted that when he was asked to make timing throws, his accuracy and release time was at the top of the class, its just something he was not asked to do a lot.

The whole father thing is absolutely fabricated bullshit that you made up. His dad is a little LaVar Ball'ish at times, but I have never heard anything about Mahomes trying to impress his father.

As time goes on, in my opinion, it seems more and more like Mahomes is either a) the Browns' guy or b) don't believe Trubs will be there at 12. Ben Allbright, who has seemed pretty "in the know" so far during the offseason/draft process doesn't think Mahomes drops past 12. Also, it doesn't mean much to me as Trubisky was allowed to visit for a private workout without it counting against the Browns # (meaning a very plausible reason why he was the last of the "big 4" to work out for the Browns), but Mahomes was the first QB they held a private workout with and I read somewhere that teams overwhelmingly draft the QB that they have visit first.

Yeah throw me in the list of guys who thinks it's an unnecessary risk that isn't likely to pan out. Want no part of Mahommes at 12. I think whoever takes Mahommes is gonna be kicking themselves over it for years

That said I'm nearly certain it will be us

I like Mahommes at 33, not at 12, but I think recent momentum makes him gone before 33.

Since that is the case, i am interested in Webb with late 2nd, early 3rd.

I think there's only going to be 2 QBs taken in the first round. Now I haven't heard anything and I've tried to ask. I think it will be Mitch and Watson taken in first round. Mahomes, Webb and Kizer will all fall. I see the media just hyping these guys up. Talking about QB needy team and puts those 5 QBs with teams, it happens every year. I only see us, 49ers and Texans as the logical teams to take a QB in the first. I don't think either is worthy of a top 10 pick but 49ers could surprise us.

Ben Albright throws stuff against the wall to see if it sticks at times. He's a radio guy, so there's a certain amount of "filling dead air" he puts out there. He does seem to have some connections, but he isn't a lead pipe lock.

I'm leaning toward waiting to see if Trubisky falls out of the top 8 picks, then considering a reasonable move up. If that isn't on the table, wait it out for value to fall, maybe even grab a vet off the scrap heap. There's too much value in the top 100 for a gross QB overdraft.

Disagree with this

Cardinals
Jets
Bears
Bills

Could all very well take a QB in round 1

Bears - just paid Glennon to be their starter. Not with the #3 pick they'll take someone.

Jets - McCown, Petty and Hackenberg on roster right now. They could be looking be at tanking for 2018. They are going to be baaaad.

Cardinals and Bills - I'm not sure. How many more years does Palmer have left in him? And what does new coaches think of Tyrod?

I'm not sure what Glennon's contract is like in terms of escapability but the Bears would've been really dumb to commit long term to Mike Glennon as the definitive answer at QB. I still think if they like one of the guys they could take him at 3 or try to trade down and take him later. But maybe they're all in on Glennon. That'd be odd to me but I know it was a high annual salary which didn't make sense

Sure the Jets may tank, but it's indisputable they don't have a QB worth a damn on that roster so it's hard to rule them out

Palmer is nearly 90 years old. I read on the tweeter that the Cards have been taking a long hard loOk themselves at Mahommes. But palmer really held that team back last year

Tyrod Taylor has a girly arm

Everyone agrees Mike Glennon is no where near a surefire long term QB for the Bears, but he's young and they obviously went after him hard. They're looking to give him a real chance to be their FQB and must feel pretty good about him.

Would be laughably shocking if they took a QB at #3.

The Bills are probably looking at WR/DB at #10. They have too many holes and I'd expect them to be content with Tyrod starting next year as a bridge for a mid round QB (Dobbs, Peterman).

The Jets, who fucking knows. That organization is a joke.

Cardinals/Chargers/Saints...I would think they spend their 1st rounders on impact defensive players and target developmental QBs later considering this isn't a can't-miss QB class.

I'd put it around 50% that all the QBs are still on the board at #12.

I think the Cardinals will roll with Palmer one more year unless Trubisky or Watson falls in their lap. Otherwise they will probably take the best DB on the board. Thats why I traded up in the mock and got Hooker and took Tabor in the 2nd. That improves their DB situation enough that they should be set. They can go get their QB next year.

I didn't make anything up. I am speculating that he plays wild because he wants to prove something to somebody. Not claiming anything as fact.

We are going to agree to disagree on his fundamentals. He's pretty wild and needs a major overhaul coming into the league.
