2018-2019 Tank Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Big loss last night boys!!

Larry Drew was the tank commander last night. He actively went away from lineups that were working. Zizic was playing hard last night and if he got more than the 14 minutes he got we probably win the game. Putting Frye in for that stretch in the second half helped alot.

Stauskas looked like he was going to have a good 4th quarter and help us win the game. Drew called a bunch of plays for Stauskas to be the ball handlers and stuff for Chriss to close out the game eventually locking the L in for us.

what happens if we tie with them?
Bulls beat the Cavs 3 out of 4 this season so Cavs have the edge even if record is same at end of season.
The interesting thing is do they still do a coin flip between Cavs and Suns for pick 2 if Cavs lose out and the Suns get another win
given both teams finish w/ same record & that split the two games this season. The best chance Suns have is against Dallas
the best chance CLE has to pull out a victory is Thurs. against the Kings and thats not a very good chance.

Charlotte will probably have little to play for against the Cavs. That said it's close between Charlotte and Sac

New Orleans is an easier match up than Dallas for Phoenix at this point

Thats true, I was accounting for Dallas being potentially trying to get the 5th seed, but yeah they are probably too far from getting it at this point to intentionally lose it.

You thought Zizic and Stauskas were playing well??? This two were getting absolutely obliterated on D. Zizic especially had no idea what he was doing, it became basically a layup line as soon as he got into the game.
Those two are fine, decorated tank soldiers.
Oh, and pretty sure Frye got minutes because he was playing in his home town for the final time. It was a nice gesture, not a tank move.

If he did that consciously, that's almost a level of reverse-competence that might actually be worth rewarding - imagine what he could do when trying to win instead :chuckle:

What do you guys think about Ricky Rubio in the offseason if we don’t draft morant? He could be the perfect Pg next to Sexton.

Yeah, they know what time it is. That said..watch em win their remaining games .."curses!..meddling kids"

I love the end of a tanking season as much as the next guy, and I appreciate your enthusiasm. But the new lottery odds have taken all the fun out of tanking for me. You fall to #4 and have 12.5% odds of #1, only 1.5% less than the team with the worst record. It's such a toss up. Watch #6 get Zion with a 9% chance.

Philly, etc just had to ruin it for everyone. At least when the Cavs tank they aren't trying to. I'll give Gilbert that much.

yeah number 6 has almost as good odds and that is why teams just in the lottery started to really throw games. I think it is going to make tanking worse. Instead of 32-5 teams fighting over the top spots, you have everyone in the lottery trying to get that 10% chance at least.

It seems like this run to the playoffs has had the lowest stakes ever. Who cares what happens out west, and in the east there seem to only be 2 teams, maybe 3. This is a nuts season

I feel like super teams have forced teams to tank harder. One star and some good pieces around him was once enough to compete. Now you have to have 3 stars at minimum.

For the Cavs, I think who we draft and what kind of jump Cedi takes in the summer will dictate if we tank again next year. I think Sexton has shown he can score at a high level and he has the drive to keep getting better. Love makes a big impact on how this team plays and we probably won't get equal value back for him if we trade him.

If Koby uses the same strategy as this year for trading players. Where he moves players thru out the season, not just at the deadline. I think the teams can make an assessment to either tank or go for the playoffs at the deadline. We could have the assets to make a big move at the deadline.

Pick 3 is looking locked up so the worse they can fall to is 7 in the lottery. Hope that doesn't happen. Maybe the Suns will get one and the worse the Cavs could fall is 6.
I doubt they fall more than 1 spot if at all and with the 3rd worse record have just as much chance at picking Zion as NY sitting at 1.
