This guy is brilliant? Don't tell that to Jarvis or any of the Phins

You watch the Dolphins at all the past few years? They over-performed on offense every season he was the coach.

I did but based on the comments from Jarvis and others, not exactly well liked or respected

Sure, but neither was Jarvis. The criticism when Miami traded him was that he was overrated and that he made drama in the locker-room.

That team and environment was cancerous. I really expect the Jets to have a great offense. Fuck, the team hated Gase last year, and still way over-performed on offense relative to their talent.

I could be wrong, but his offense was usually in the 20s. While they didnt have a ton of talent, they certainly had solid players during his tenure.

Couple things on Adarius Taylor:

If you have never heard of him, he changed his name and used to be Adarius Glanton from Florida Atlantic. He has mostly been a backup but can play all three linebacker positions. He did start in Tampa Bay and tested out well against the run. He played under Wilks in Carolina, backing up two of the best in the business in Keuchly and Thomas Davis. Doesn't sound like a threat to unseat a starter, but depth is important.

Blake has some of the most impressive box score stats I’ve ever seen from a scrub qb. Never really looked it up before. How the hell did he throw for 35 tds his second year??

Tiered positional needs:

Tier one:

Cornerback - you can never have enough and letting BBC/Gaines go creates a clear void.

Starting caliber linebacker - Currently have Schobert and Kirksey, Avery with first dibs to lock down Will with Adarius Taylor and Ray Ray under contract for depth.

Tier Two:

Offensive line depth - I'm never one to jinx myself, but the Browns made it 16 games without a major injury to the offensive line for the first time I can remember. I don't want to gamble on lightning striking twice. In addition, Robinson and Corbett don't seem to be sure things. This is the biggest hole on offense if someone goes down with injury.

Safety depth - I believe in Kindred, but both FS and SS have a whole lot of nothing behind them. One intelligent signing could change this dramatically, but it hasn't happened yet.

Tier Three:

Kicker competition - I have scarring, mentally, from the 2018 season. On the other hand, I have a hard time believing kicker is a priority position.

Fullback - Tony Grossi paid me to mention this, but Orson Charles is a UFA. In certain times of a game, one is very useful. DeValve saw time at FB at times and performed like a fancy pants tea time bunny rabbit.

The "names" still out there are pretty crazy.

I figure the Browns are basically done at this point but there is some legit talent still out there.
