2021 Indians Active Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Young players let go: Urshela, Aguilar, Naquin

Indians don't want to make those mistakes with Bauers, Chang, etc.

Urshela also credits the Yankees hitting coach for changing his entire approach. While we continue to send out Tito's close friend Burkleo.

With exception to Hosey, you don't see the Indians sending out hotshot hitters.

Wonderful, grade A pitching development.

Opposite with hitting.
I mean, every team is guilty of letting a few players go they probably shouldn't have, that's not just an Indians thing. The Indians developed Frankie into 5x the hitter many thought he would be at the major league level. Coming up, no one would have possibly imagined 30 dingers nevertheless close to 40 from him, etc. I agree with your general premise that we develop pitchers at a much higher rate of success, no doubt about that.

Lindor, Jose, Carlos, Kipnis, Brantley, Gomes... we've certainly groomed some.

I'm not defending Van Burkleo, but it's also not fair to say that Ramirez is the only player who developed as a hitter with this organization.

Naquin was hardly a young player.

The FO is at the point that it had better start making some hard decisions. No matter what happens, it is gonna let some talented young player go in six months.

Clogging up the 40 man and the active rosters with guys who haven't shown anything in years...and who are dragging down the present team now...because we fear that maybe one of them might beat the odds a few years from now..is no way to continue to continue winning ball games.

Not one of the players we have lost, save Urshela, has done enough to make a difference in our won-loss records....and Urshela doesn't play a position for which we had a need.

Urshela also went to a another team first TB & continued his hitting struggles, he finally clicked with a 3rd hitting coach.

We gave Gio and Tyler ample opportunity to succeed. The only one we decided to pass on was Jesus Aguilar.

I'd guess that this means Miller is coming up soon but sending Gimenez down first makes me think we could see Arias, due to the 40 man considerations. Unless we DFA someone next.... Chang? I'd kinda think Chang is worth more than Zimmer at this point though.

Giminez new stance is really nice. He needs playing time.

Not sure how others feel/ think about it, but I would be intrigued by a top of the lineup having Tyler Freeman leading off and followed by Owen Miller (especially in the 2022 season)

T. Freeman
O. Miller
JRam
Franmil
J Naylor

With this new move...a position player for another pitcher...and with Luplows bad ankle...do we even have a bench tonight?

Do we have a bench tomorrow?

Unless there is a trade in the works, this makes no sense. Why not make both moves today?

AAAA/ML Backup catcher Ryan Lavarnway is quietly putting together a strong season for Columbus. He can also play 1st.

Honestly I'd take him over Rivera and probably give him a chance to play his way into regular time for now.
