Use this thread to discuss the picks and progression of the draft so the mock draft thread has less clutter.

As a participant who does not have many good resources saved, I'd appreciate (as I'm sure others as well) any links to free and quality draft resources any of you could provide.

First year in a while it seems where the first overall pick is not a fairly easy decision. At least according to my memory. I guess Baker was the last one.

Hutchinson and Josh Allen on the Jaguars.

An interesting prospect to say the least, but is anyone else surprised the Jags aren’t very (publicly) looking to move down?

Granted, adding a DE with Hutchinson’ potential and makeup isn’t an option I’m turning my nose up at, but would the Jags benefit by looking downward to acquire more picks and future capital?

Theyve got a long way to go and a generational QB on a rookie deal, if they’re able to turn the needle upward in 2022, that future capital could be immense in acquiring a serious veteran player in 2023.

When you are a bad team with a weak roster and are set at QB then I would think you would absolutely trade down if possible. However, there is 1) no quarterback worthy of #1 and 2) no generational player like a Myles Garrett available. I think the Jags got unlucky and pulled the top spot like when the Cavs had it when they took Bennett.

I do not envy the Lions. Their home run pick was Aiden Hutchinson, and he's likely to go 1 overall now. And the choices after Hutchinson are just not very good. Take Kyle Hamilton? A safety at 2 overall? Nah. Another OT? I cannot see it. Take a guy like Walker, who never really produced at Georgia?

It's why I went with Kayvon. He's not my ideal choice, and I'm not sure he's "Lions Material" but I think he's the best player and "fit" for the Lions.

And no, Willis wasn't an option, IMO.

I agree.

It takes two to tango. I’m sure the Jaguars would love to trade down, but who is going to trade up to make it worth it? As you said, there’s no Myles Garrett in this draft. Or even a Bosa.

My Dad made the Bennett draft comparison a couple days ago while we were talking and it’s a good one.

Surge out here following the sources- accurate option.

Granted- the second he gives up a TD, I hope the receiver hands him the ball. Right to the chest.

Detroit not taking Willis IRL is going to kill me, but I know you’re right. I just want him in a dome slinging nukes to ARSB.

I offered @Stark a decent Jimmy G package and he turned it down:

Jimmy G and a 2022 6th round pick (#251 right now).

Christian McCaffery, 2022 4th round pick (#106) and 2023 3rd round pick.

Seeing that the Panthers could end up trading McCafferty, I'm curious to see how my offer stacks up to reality.

What they (I) need to do most to get the defense into respectability is add a second elite EDGE rusher, and those wouldn't come cheap in trade.

Although my rationale mostly focused on how I thought Hutchinson's floor is a good fit for the Jags, I certainly perked up a bit when I saw his agility testing. If his commitment and professionalism are up to snuff, there's no reason he shouldn't reach Watt/Bosa territory fairly quickly. Only the real Jags can know that part though. He has the tools he needs.

Walker is intriguing, but more of a projection. Thibodeaux is also awesome but the coachability questions are an element of risk that a clown show in recovery just doesn't need to take on right now.

Also, OTs taken in the top 10 are more hit/miss than EDGE historically speaking.

Maybe in other years, we would trade down but nobody is taking Willis, Pickett, or Corral #1. Happy with the pick.

Thought the Jets needed a corner and he's my fav in the draft. Also saw a couple articles linking him to the Jets. Made it easy.

The greatest coach of all time took a safety with the no. 2 pick. If Kyle Hamilton can lead a defense, you absolutely do it.

Travon Walker + Evan Neal = HAUL

Rebuilding the Giants the right way. Fortify the lines and put yourself in a position to be an appealing QB spot if someone becomes available.

@Hurl Bruce - if this shouldn't be here, feel free to move it, but I wanted to propose something with this mock draft. One thing I did with some friends in another group is choose a team, create a mock offseason, then go through a fantasy season off the team that was selected/drafted/signed. In addition to the draft, we played GM with free agents and trades and then let the season play out using fantasy rules during the actual season. Would there be any interest in something like this for this group?
