2023-24 Season | Game #5 | Cavs @ Knicks | Nov. 1, 2023 | 7:30 EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mitchell should consider running the offense and needs to pass at the end of the game.

What surprised me the most was Niang's defense on Randle. He got some help from Wade as well. Those two held Randle to 6 points on 15 shots and he never got to the free throw line. Best defensive job I've ever seen on him. I've been hard on Niang, and his shot still isn't falling, but he did a good job last night so I have to acknowledge it.

With Randle totally neutraulized and Barrett out, that left Brunson as the only offensive threat, along with Quickley and DiVicenzo off the bench. Okoro and LeVert did a nice job on Brunson. When Randle and Brunson go a combined 11-for-38 you've done a great job.

Randle is the type of player Niang is suited to cover. He doesn’t rely on quickness or going over the top very often, he likes to just bully his way to the lane. Well, Niang’s thickness makes him pretty hard to bully and because he’s also a vet, he doesn’t get whistled for ticky tac fouls. This kind of roster versatility is why we should be a better team this year

I’m remember during his second stint with the Cavs LBJ spoke about how he took care of his body. He said he would get to the arena four hours early, sit in the hot tub for 45 mins, do some excercises and 30 minutes before the game he would be on the trainer’s table letting him massage his body and stretch his legs and body out. I’m guessing these guys sit at their locker with headphones on.
I read an article by Mary Kay that said they replicate the “Code Red” scene from a Few Good Men before every game. It seems counterproductive, but if you’re looking for freak injuries to pop up it’s certainly working.

I honestly thought our biggest hurdle this season was getting past the Knicks. If they can't play bully ball, they're beatable. I think the victory will serve as a confidence boost & this team will have a great regular season.

Major props to Koby for adding TT & Niang. Those two are veterans who won't let other teams intimidate us, great additions to our roster.

I agree than “getting past the Knicks” was a big issue - psychologically. They were living in our heads. But they are a small fraction of the games we play in the regular season and it’s probably less than 50% that we meet them in the playoffs. We will have new hurdles this year but no way to know those until we reach them.

We need to remember Miami was losing on the fourth quarter of the last play in game before their incredible run to the Finals. The NBA is unpredictable these days (no GSW cheat code team).

Is it me or is the officiating complete shite?
