2024 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here's a clip of Jose Pirela's homer he hit the other day in the ACL opener... That is a BOMB.

This is very reminiscent of the pitcher we had with the finger issues. I'm sure others will tell me I'm overreacting but at this point I don't expect to ever see DeLauter play for the Guardians. It's a shame but I just feel terribly bad for the young man.
Not sure how this is overreacting?

Foot issues is as bad as chronic shoulder issues for a pitcher. 3rd time broke some bone in foot and he is only 22?

I am usually an optimist, or at least a realist, so as a realist this is very bad and sucks allot, he is very much a top, top prospect. But foot issues are very chronic type issues with no easy solutions.

This is cool, if you look closely in right field you can see the lights to my house (kidding)

Looks like my favorite under the radar prospect is starting to heat up, Esteban Gonzalez... I mentioned in some posts earlier this year, he gives me "breakout vibes"... I think he may just be scratching the surface here... He also leads the organization and Carolina league in steals. On the year:

Good news about DeLauter. Not a broken bone, no set back. I'll take him out of the trash with Espino and put him back on my prospect board.

CJ Kayfus might need some more discussion

He’s got a smooth looking swing… he’s crushing it with the Captains.

A fair amount of us have been paying attention... IF he handles AA pitching, he is due for an MLB spot...

Few more pitching injuries at Columbus. Hopefully short as they didn't promote Walter's or Torres who have been crushing it

Oh fun...

I'd like to see Torres at AAA to be honest...

Rubberducks are 20-11 and it's all about pitching...off the charts good. Nikhazy is being ramped up after injury and after 14 innings, ERA is zero with 19 K. WHIP is 057.

Davenport and Mace have been excellent as starters so far as well with ERA's barely above 2.

This is why I don't understand brass paying money for this bum they got from the Marlins.

You still need depth regardless... Plus even if we move up guys, we still have to replace them with someone from the lower levels and this organization doesn't spend a lot in international ball normally in pitching. ACL is almost pure international signings right now.

Don't forget Kent is out with an elbow injury, Williams isn't back yet, so I think they felt, let's see what this guy has until we get back Williams, Karinchak etc...

Tanner Burns has disappointed me so far this season. I expected more honestly.

Lake County team is fun to watch, my kind of team. Solid pitching, defense and a lineup full of tough outs.

Clubhouse name for themselves is Rake County and they did just that.

Furman, the little guy swings hard and has some quick uppercut to it. I've seen him hit several deep to the track in prior games. Now he got rewarded.

Kayfus just works counts, spoils tough pitches and has your typically lefty golf swing. Everything middle in will be crushed. He golfed one 105 EV out of the stadium over the billboard in right center. Even most of his outs just look good. I can't remember a poor looking PA. He's easily a 50/50 hit/power guy with potential for plus at both.

Guy Lipscomb is much more aggressive in the box right now. Next developmental step is power apparently and he's hunting for pitches to drive. He's been a bit too passive, too content to take his walks before and hit singles with 2 strikes.
Now he gets into the box looking to mash. It looks a bit wild, but he has a quick swing and rarely whiffed, fouling off pitches and hit several balls hard. One of his doubles was 103 EV.

I've said this before. He's got plus speed, good contact ability and pull/lift profile in a 6'2 frame. If he gets to power regularly, he's a top prospect.

Denholm, a personal favorite since the shortend 2020 draft, was excellent. He's too old and savvy for this level, need to go to AA. Changeup is a beauty. Really looks like his fastball in slow motion, thrown with the same arm speed.

Hajjar is frustrating. Worked a 10 pitch first inning with 2 K and 3 quick outs, then completely lost his control and imploded in the second. Just move him to the pen. He could become as good as Hentges or Herrin.

Zane Morehouse looks like a dude on the mound. Older Bullpen only prospect to keep an eye on, 14th rd pick last year. Was always on scouts radar, pedigree, might be a late bloomer in the right org.
