2024 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
RL's history and veteran status says he should be given more runway.. no?
No. Especially on a team trying to determine which prospects have what it takes. Even if we don't like it, that's where this team is currently.

I hate having these veterans who are struggling and have no long term value with team block youngsters from getting call ups. Not really saying hes blocking KM but he likely is or will be blocking JRod or Valera at some point.

We need the Lou Brown gif from major league (after watching Willie Mays Hayes run)

“Get that guy a uniform”

The fact that he hits from the right side is a big factor in this. But he needs to start hitting

I wonder if we will see Valera and J Rodriquez replace Florial and Laureano the second half of the season...
I’m still intrigued with Florial…….I was confused on Laureano, unfortunately that will be 2 years in a row ,they will have to eat salary if they dump him, and not sure how Ownership will look upon that. But because Laureano bats RH I could see J Rodriquez before Valera ….

It doesn't cost us any more to cut Laureano than it does to keep him, right?

So you make the decision that makes your team better.

(I also still like having Florial around. Not only does he have intriguing power, but he seems aware of his vulnerabilities and how pitchers are attacking him. I like to see that.)

Am I the only one who is ready to just promote the AA pitching staff to AAA?

Like our AA pitching staff plus the AAA hitting, would be the best minor league team in my mind... (bit of a hot take, but it feels like it).

There is an unwritten cost.. signing a guy.. playing him sporadically to not at all... followed by releasing him... tells other free agents to steer clear.. you're not going to get a fair shake here.. At least, it's possible, but takes poor performance to be fully realized..

This guy deserves his shot.
Don't worry he'll get it.

So are you bumping Josh to DH and calling up Manzardo? That takes Vogt's DH versatility away. He's had Jose, Josh, Brennan, Arias and Florial DH and those AB go away for them.

Yes. I've already stated there are enough ABs in the OF for Florial, Fry, Freeman and Brennan occasionally Arias to get.
Arias will just super sub the IF. He can play every day splitting time with RF and resting Jose, Rocchio and Gimenez.

Finding ABs for Arias and Florial (two odd men out for me. Laureano should just be collecting dust) Is a pretty good downside to getting Manzardo in the lineup batting behind Naylor... maybe in front of Naylor considering Naylor isn't taking pitches anyways. He swings at everything throw his way over the last two weeks.
