2024 Season | Series #12 | Tigers @ Guardians | May 6-8, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Manzardo with a hitting streak.. one in a row !!

look at the early returns for Tommy Mace and Aaron Davenport... ( and to a much lesser degree, Rodney Boone).. a shock promotion for a start here or there wouldn't be out of the question..
And there anywhere from 1-3 guys in LC ready for a shot at AA glory, Peterson, Messick and Denholm.

A little weird that he came in for Arias as they needed to do 2 switches .... Fry to 3rd and now Laureano to OF.

This is PovertyBall, bro: you can't build a 5 man rotation in a tight window without some filler. I mean, if they can assemble a Kluber, Cookie, Bauer, Clevinger rotation again, awesome! But in a more likely scenario, you have to settle for a couple serviceable guys around the Bibees and Biebers and Tugboats. Hell, we watched the 2016 team almost win the whole fucking thing with Lil Cowboy Josh Tomlin getting the 2nd most starts on the team. This legacy front office finally figured out how to draft; now they need to look back into the ancient texts and find the old reclamation spells that got Shapiro through his years here to add to their spell book.
List some of those successful reclamation SP prospects.

Not sure how wise it was to burn Bo and not even get him to the plate. Now Freeman is at 3B after spending the bulk of the season at CF. If this were the 13th inning, fine. But this is the 8th inning. Seems to be not very well thought out.

I think finding Blake Lively was a nice start in a return to their old ways of finding reclamation projects for the rotation. It simply was not necessary for so long because the combo of acquired pitching prospects (Klubes, Cookie, Bauer) combined with the newfound homegrown guys (Salazar, Biebs, Civale, Plesac, Sticks, etc) meant not much room. But now? They got room again for some shined up nuggets like Lively; even for some of the borderline guys again, like the Malletts and Laffeys and Houses and Curry's 'eat inning's. My thinking is, with how hard throwing arms are exploding left and right, even if a guy may be serviceable for only a couple years as a starter, that may mark a reasonable value in the new baseball world.
I'd be careful about setting too high of expectations for Lively. So far so good though.

Mace with his 4.12 xFIP, 18.1 K% in AA seems like he would be batting practice. Davenport also has low ERA in a low sample and nothing else. Battenfield all over again IMO only he did it at AAA.

That was a strange situation in which to burn the rest of your bench.

Runner at first, two outs? Seventh inning?

This game has the feeling that we are out of it.

But we are only down two, with our big bats still having an at bat left.
