#36: Rakeem Christmas - PF/C - Syracuse

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You realize they just paid Thompson a shitload of money. He's not gonna see the damn court after a year.

I know, I don't approve of the signing,

damn i'm so tired :/

Until we make our move with Haywood and the rest of the bottom of the roster, I wouldn't get to attached if I was Christmas. I'd put it at just 50/50 of him being on the 15 man roster. If he's not, surely some terrible team will have a spot for him.

But, I do like the kid so if he's our 15th guy, great. Someone needs to relieve Joe Harris of his donut fetching responsibilities.

They like him,
he gotta make the team.. they drafted him for a reason I hope they don't do anything stupid, this kid is legit

The numbers still seem to be there, even if we acquire two players.

Yes (9):

LBJ, Love, Kyrie, TT, Miller, Harris, AV, Moz, Shump

Maybe (4):

Delly, Smith, Jones, Christmas

No:

Marion (retired), Perkins (FA), Haywood (traded), Cedi (stash), Pointer (cut),

If we assume the yes and maybe category, that's only 13 players.

So we could bring 2 back in a Haywood trade and still have room for him.

In the event we bring back a PG and a Wing, I wouldn't be surprised if Jones is let go, which again would leave room for him.

We worked Christmas out twice and then maneuvered in to the second round to take him. IMO we have to like him given the smoke.....especially since we bypassed another euro stash to take him. Guess we'll see.

I'm starting to get psyched for summer league, specifically because of Christmas. Call me a sucker for a 7'5 wingspan with untapped three point range. If he shows the Cavaliers he can be a stretch 4 and play smart defense, it takes the pressure off to find Varejao insurance.

I hope I can catch some of these games because I can't wait for Christmas.

Does Christmas have 3 point range?

At a point late in the first round, Bilas was talking about the best prospects on the board and he talked about Christmas. He said that Christmas helped himself at the combine by showing a shooting range he wasn't allowed to use at Syracuse, extending out to three point territory. Cavs fans who didn't record the draft likely missed it because it was said 8 or 9 spots before we took him.

After three unproductive and underachieving seasons, the 23-year-old senior made significant strides in several areas of his game ... His role as a leader and player increased dramatically, as he averaged 17.5 points on 55 percent shooting (while facing persistent double-teams), 9.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game ... The 6-foot-9 big man earned All-ACC First Team and All-ACC Defensive Team honors, and was named the ACC’s Most Improved Player ... He was also selected as a second-team All-American, and was a finalist for a host of other awards (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award, John Wooden Award, and Oscar Robertson Award) ...
After finally looking at the videos, and reviewing his credentials, I'm shocked he was there for us to draft. Also, he's already a full grown man, TT is only eight months older than Christmas. I would love to see him make the roster and get a little playing time during the season. TT could have used a little in the finals

more talented than TT, I have high hopes for the guy, I also think he can be a good switch defender against GSW and such.
he looks quick on his feet.

Hasn't even played in an NBA game yet...pump the breaks.

Reminds me of a bigger Draymond Green. Damn, I'd like him to play ahead of Tristan. I know, I know, Tristan can rebound and he shares LeBron's agent.
