#36: Rakeem Christmas - PF/C - Syracuse

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Better trade him now, he's not getting 5yr90mil from us.

Yes it does. You have no idea he is more "talented" than Tristan. Since, like you said he hasn't played a game in the NBA.

Wow ok, so he hasn't played nor I seen him play basketball ever?
I watched him in College, this is still basketball right? even look at his workout video.

I've seen hundreds upon hundreds of guys who show "talent" in college and workouts videos, and then it doesn't transfer to the NBA...again, pump the breaks.

Ofcourse, that's obvious, I only said he was more talented than TT since TT can't do any of those stuff.
he is a one trick pony.
Look at my post again, I never said he was gonna be good this season, I was just comparing him to TT regarding talents level, that's it.

Ok, this is a pointless discussion right? we are only talking about it cause we do want a new good player since it's always fun, let's wait and see till then, let's just hope Girff makes some good moves.

It all depends on if he has moxie and owns the room when he walks in it.

I will just say that out of the four potential rookies we got this post season, he is the one who impressed me the most, and I think has a real chance to make it in the league.
I can't wait to see him play tomorrow.

The entire board has been one giant clusterfuck with Tristan lately. People are letting what he wants for a contract change him into a "one trick pony" because he isn't going to accept a contract certain fans want him to accept. Boo fucking ho.

Countless posts have been made about where this guy is elite at in other areas besides rebounding, yet it keeps getting tossed aside because of what he is about to be paid, so people like yourself are using this "one trick pony" shit to justify your quips against how much Tristan wants to get paid vs how much you think he should be paid. Damn this guy for trying to get all he can get!!!!! Amazing how short people's memories are in here, cause a guy getting 10, 10, and 1 on 56% shooting throughout the playoffs is now "less talented" than a 2nd round pick who has yet to even show if he can make it in this league. The whole premise of that comment, regardless of what you meant by it, is so outlandish I should have just shook my head and moved on instead of commenting on it.

But hey, I hope you are right and he ends up being better than Tristan, cause that'll make the team better WITH Tristan. But I'm not going to say he's better or more talented than a proven NBA player until I actually see the guy play.

Solid response to some good discussion material...I love new posters...where art thou, @gourimoko

You are not debating, you are too agressive for my likings.
He doesn't deserve all the money he is about to get, that's the end of it.
He is only doing that because he has Lebron's back, you know how many players have performed better than Tristan in the playoffs and didn't ask for outrageous amount of money especially after a mediocre regular season?
There is no way, absolutely no way he would get more than 5/70(that's a stretch) without Lebron.

what are you doing here? This isn't a Tristan thread first of all and you're not even listening to any of Bimbo's arguments, so you're obviously not interested in debating. Basically all you are doing is getting your panties in a twist and hollering in a thread not fit for said hollering.

No one thinks TT deserves 90 mil/5 years. No, he's not going to get that, it's simply how you properly negotiate. you start higher than you are willing to settle for, just like the cavs would probably start lower than they would be willing to. even if he does end up with 80 mil or so, it's going to be good value going forward due to the jump in salary cap in the next couple of years.

Everything isn't about LeBron, calm the fuck down and try to have a proper discussion instead of just pissing about and derailing threads.

No, I'm not. If you are viewing it that way, then I attack everyone on this board I discuss things with.

And where have I personally said how much I think Tristan deserves to be paid? I don't think I have ever tossed out arbitrary money figures for how much the guy should be paid. Why? Cause I don't really care until it is all said and done, all of this other shit is nothing but pure speculation on vague tweets. I don't care if a guy goes out and tries to get all he can. This is America, that is the founding premise of our country, so why should I care until the actual figures are seen? Windy tweets out "Cavs and Thompson haven't been talking" and we turn it into "Tristan is asking for the max, what an asshole, one trick pony, selfish LeBron nuthugger!!!!".

And I'm not even going to touch on the "mediocre season" stuff. Keep letting what he wants money wise cloud how he actually plays.

Anyways, back to Christmas.

With no C on the Summer League team (where'd you go, Alex Kirk?), I'm curious to see how his body and wingspan translates to guarding C sized opponents. If he really is capable of holding down the 5 position and anchoring a defense, I think it would ease a little burden off of Andy during the regular season, which in turn could help his health even more than coming off the bench will.

I also want to see if he can pass. If he is as good and as talented as Arison is saying :chuckle:, he should see doubles. Can he make the extra pass over the top to the other big? Can he kick the ball out to 3 point shooters? Excited to see if the stuff we have heard about his combine performance and workouts are legit and can actually be used in a game environment.

What's odd is this is a thread about Christmas and some here are excited about his game and to watch him play. So what? Let some of us be excited. Why bring them down?; nothing else is going on right now and we can watch his play. If some don't want to get excited or interested, fine, but why rain on someone's interest, especially in a Christmas thread?

So he hasn't played an NBA game yet. That same argument, that we should "pump the brakes" since he hasn't played an NBA game can be made for every draft pick ever made, including LeBron or Kyrie.

Fans who follow the NBA can see Christmas has offensive skills that Tristan does not and did not have as a rookie. No one is saying he is better than Tristan, just different. He may or may not pan out. I guess we'll find out.

Some of us like to watch young players develop. Others dismiss such players, especially if they are a late first round or second round pick. There are plenty of steals at these slots, including Draymond Green, who he reminds me of.

Will he come close to Green? I dunno. Maybe, maybe not. Maybe he falls on his face. Perhaps he surpasses him. If he does, that's great for Cavs fans. But pump the brakes? No way.

Some of us fanatics just like to press on the gas.

If he pans out, fans of his game will get an early "Christmas" present. The Christmas naysayers, the bah-humbugers, however, may just get coal.
