#8: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State University

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Neither of those links really back up the thought that they fired the psychologist because of Justin Gilbert.

Not even a little bit, honestly.

Yes it does. When Farmer was asked if Gilbert's problem should have been detected earlier, he replied "The Browns have made changes to their scouting department and hired a new team psychologist since last year's draft." Why would he say that if that's not the reason they fired the psychologist?

Actually...he said:

"And I would tell you in that respect you always look to improve your decision-making process. So yeah, you'd like to think you can catch it or you can find it, but that requires resources or things that you've got to really, truly dig into. You don't find out everything about every guy ..."

You should really think about accurately quoting people.

I tried to change it right after I hit enter but apparently you live here...Anyways, still doesn't change the fact that the coach and GM are basically coming out and stating your boy is dealing with unmentionable demons.

Some people think it may be his family hounding him for money. Some think he's illiterate. Who knows what these demons are...

You linked the story in the first place, apparently you didn't read it.

Wholly unsurprising, honestly.

I think this tweet is very important:

Have to get this kid on the mend. I can't wholly blame the Browns on this one. Sometimes these things are hard to detect, sometimes things arise without notice. Sounds like a case of bad luck.

Justin is a superbly talented athlete. If he hones it in, he can still be a special player.

Probably ADD. Or Seasonal Affective Disorder. If neither of those, I have to think gout.

It's that non-24 shit that has all of those commercials on the radio that confuse the fuck out of me.

Are you implying that Justin Gilbert is totally blind with the inability to sleep at night? :chuckle:

I mean, the Browns are pretty shitty at checking player backgrounds, but that'd be a rather large miss.

I wonder if Gilbert could be like Brandon Marshall? Remember how he was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder? Who knows, maybe Gilbert is depressed, bi-polar, etc.

As an individual diagnosed with bi-polar, if he truly has some sort of mental disorder, getting help will help him greatly both on and off the field. Gaining clarity and understanding of what's afflicting you is such a weight lifted off your shoulders. It's hard to even describe.

Hopefully Justin continues moving in a positive direction. He showed flashes of his ability last season. Now it's about becoming consistent and becoming a professional. I skill have a ton of faith in the kid based on the glimpses of his ability we saw throughout last year. Hopefully it's just a maturity issue that will work itself out.
