8 PLAYER TRADE (Indiana/GSW)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Pacers come out ahead in this deal. Both teams got players who should fit better in their systems though.

Take away the contracts of both Murphy and Dunleavy when considering them and they're both pretty solid players. They should fit better with O'Neal in Indiana too. Murphy can spread the floor well for a big man and is a good rebounder. Dunleavy is a well rounded role player who would be better surrounded by more talent. He'll never live up to his draft status or overpriced contract.
Diogu is also a fairly talented young PF who should do better in the east.

Other than Harrington I don't think Indiana should be upset over losing any of the other players.
They also unload the Stephen Jackson headache.

This trade seems like shaking the jar to see what else you can make, because you don't have any better ideas. Basically all role players involved, no true game breakers.

I really don't think this makes either team "better," but guarantee Indiana will be playing harder. Jermaine O'Neal threw down the gauntlet to his own team, and since he's the main star left, the remaining guys have to play up to his level. Another thing...Indiana must really trust Tinsley's health all of a sudden, they just traded away 2 PGs (Saras, Marquis runs PG in a pinch), all they have left after that is old man Darrell Armstrong and nondescript Orien Greene. If Tinsley goes down, their remaining PG corps is as bad as ours.

Troy Murphy is solid, but Mike Dunleavy is anything but. He's unreliable, and his percentages usually suck. He has stepped it up this year, but I don't see the Cavs getting knocked out of the division lead by the likes of Mike Dunleavy. I'm not even worried about this.

Also, Daniel Gibson > Keith McLeod

Ike Diogu...ugh...we do always have trouble with teams bringing widebodies off the bench like him. Varejao usually has trouble against those bull types. And now I can't go my backup plan, Tractor anymore- he had a drug violation a few months ago. Maybe old Jahidi White has got himself back in shape :chuckles:

How does Al Harrington feel about getting traded by the Pacers, then going through hell just to sign back with them this summer, just to get traded again.

Definitely a slap in the face..the Hawks Pacers saga lasted weeks...what a dickhead move on the part of Walsh and Bird..

Dunleavy is a bust..not worthy of the 3rd pick..not worthy of 42 mill..he's mediocre at best..

Diogu could be something solid..not a star but a very good role player.

Murphy could give you 16-10 but he has to stay healthy..that's an if..

Indy could get the better deal but as of now the hand goes to the Warriors.

Who knows maybe they do better without SJax around addition by subtraction..

What are the Warriors thinking?

Big win for Indiana!

i am really not seeing how Indy wins in this deal by taking on the enormus contracts of Murphey and Dunleavy

ehhh noo thanx to those to average whities

Both these teams needed this, but it does look like either team got what they really needed as far as positions go.

but yes this does indeed make me excited....it doesnt even involve a team i like...i just like trades...its a sickness
This is off topic, but you should play fantasy sports. Trades are usually much easier to pull off than in real life, and if you know what you're doing you can seriously rape people. You're talking to the guy who's been in four straight fantasy football superbowls, largely b/c of trades. I have at least one big one and a couple minor ones every year.

I do play in too many fantasy leagues....since I got this new job my attention towards them has really declined....but if I put my heart into it I am a pretty decent fantasy guy

Actually, I think INDY might be the winners here.. If Murphy gets back to form, they have two double digit rebounders in that Front Court... Mike D. could use the change of scenery, and I think Diogu could become a very solid player...And might ultimately prove to be the best player in this deal down the road..

Yep, Jackson is a headcase. I don't know why GS wants him. They'll be sorry they did this deal.

This is trash...Both teams still aren't that good.

WHOOPS

Heh heh :chuckles:

I'll be the first to eat crow over that deal. GS got the better of this one by a LONG SHOT. Larry Bird is looking like an idiot.

Jackson is doing great for GS right now, but he faces lots of legal trouble ahead, and he's gotta learn to grow up, and do it quickly.

If he doesn't, he'll end up like Ron Artest, with more court cases than he can handle.

BTW Kypus, I see you didn't include your own quote:

I really don't think this makes either team better

That's just as offbase as the rest of us posted. :chuckles:

Almost everybody on RCF was dead wrong on this deal. It happens.
