Last night was one of the worst games of basketball i've ever seen a person play. Holy fuckmothering jesus, Gee... in the end i didn't even get frustrated. I just sat there with blank look on my face completely mesmerized by the shear suckitude the dude was displaying out there.

He has dropped off from last season to this season and he didn't improve one aspect of his game at all

I'm confused why gee gets 30 minutes a night while cj miles gets benched practically the whole game till the fourth quarter. I'm interested in knowing if gee does something well, what? Miles has been hot.

Only takes Miles 2-3 seconds into the shotclock to take a bad shot, whereas Gee likes to take his time and wait until about 10-14 seconds have gone by...

As bad as Gee is, there's no real replacement. Luke can't play the three at this point, and Miles is not much better at all. SF has to be addressed in the off-season. With Alonzo starting, we'll never take the next step. He's that awful.

Correct. I look for Grant to already have some SF's in mind to try to aquire.

... I'm glad I noticed him being forced to play power forward against Paul Milsap and Stoudemire. With Zeller and Speights unable to play a lick of crunch time, Coach is searching for a decent man at the 4 since Thompson needs to play the center as the only big man. Additionally, once it was discovered that Luke could hold up better against Paul, C.J. was stupid enough to guard Haywood on the left side. Who the hell guards a natural righty on their left?! Everyone got on his case about that. Even if C.J. is a lefty himself, he has to realize enough about his opponent that most of them are dominant right-handed guys. As a result, Luke came in and Gee moved to wing.

What did you guys notice?

Gee was a PF in college. Soo, it's not a huge stretch to make him play there for a few minutes. He's undersized, but knows the position.

I remember one play late in the 4th against the Jazz where he just went full-on matador defense against Millsap. He literally jumped out of the way and conceded the open layup. That's not how post defense works, Gee...Let Kevin Jones or some other young fringe d-leaguer get some minutes. It'll either be a not-too-obvious tanking move, or a pleasant surprise.

Gee appears to be a case of the more you see a player and the more minutes he gets you realize his limitations and talent level as a player.
Hopefully next season he can be put in the backup role that better suits his ability level as a player. His defense seems to have declined lately too. Was always a little overrated there but he hasn't been playing up to his previous level.
Many felt before that Gee was a long term piece but would be tough to say that now. Whether he's here long term or not really isn't going to have a major effect on the future success or failure of the Cavs. Solid role player who's carved out a place for himself in the league and does deserve credit or praise for working hard to do that.

What I notice is a lot of last year coming down too the end of the season. Heavy minutes = tired. He obviously cant handle the load anymore of starting minutes. He'd be great 20 minutes off the bench. Same stuff as last year.

If Casspi wasnt in Scott's "doghouse" that he doesnt have he would be starting over Gee. whether Scotts not playing him is justified or not. Casspi is the superior player. I still think Gee will be a valuable bench guy in the long run and hopefully Irving is intent on picking up his defense so Gee can guard the guys he should be.to be fair Scott hasnt exactly put him in a position to look good with Gees game to game defensive assignments.

Cass is too soft for a bigger player..too finesse and just isn't able to handle the physical part of the game.

The funny thing is, is that Gee actually looked decent next to the absolute shit we put on the floor next to Kyrie last year.

Now we realize he's just a higher grade of shit than the rest of them were. :chuckles:

Well, in his defense, you can see that he is doing things out there that are hurting his stats -- such as boxing guys out in a way that greatly reduces his chance at a rebound so that Tristan or someone else can grab it -- and he defends, at times, every position from 1 through 4. I suspect the coaching staff appreciates that he does try to carry out what they want. My main problem with him is he shoots too much given his limited offensive skill set.

As far as who will be the starting SF next year...My guess is if the Cavs end up drafting a SF with their first pick, they would like him to start, but I don't think it's a guarantee he'd win the spot over Gee, at least not to start the year. And as far as signing or trading for a SF, my sense is the Cavs aren't going to want to blow their cap space. Maybe if they can sign a guy to a contract similar to CJ Miles, but is that guy going to be any better than Gee?

I'm not advocating, much less predicting, that Gee be the starting SF next year. But I wouldn't be surprised if he is.

I dont want to defend this guy to much but all season i see Gee trying to guard point guards to help out kyrie. I don't know even you can see he has regressed because honestly i feel he is still the same player he was last year. Personally, there using him as a defensive stopper on a really bad defensive team right now. His true value to this team is really impossible to measure because all he has to really do in my book is play top notch d all night and knock down some open threes when they are there. But when your team has so many holes defensively how can you even know if he is even playing good defensive. I know he has not been playing well recently but we may have the worst defense in the league right now.
