Amar'e Safari 2015 Reboot - Fooled Thrice

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Amar'e Safari (Cavs closing in on deal for Amar'e LINK ON PAGE 3 PER ESPN)

No kidding.

I'm eagerly awaiting a "Well I made some calls....Amare is coming" post from W&G. Hopefully:D

Honestly, I think the less we hear from W&G, the more likely that something IS imminent and on its' way to the league office. If things get that far, he usually stays away until just before it's announced as official.

BEST VALENTINE'S DAY PRESENT EVER!

What? Article from Broussard that says everything we knew yesterday already?

Re: Amar'e Safari (Cavs closing in on deal for Amar'e LINK ON PAGE 3 PER ESPN)

Those waiting for confirmation are likely to be disappointed. Stern is not going to let a trade like this to overshadow the All Star Game. Not going to happen....

Re: Amar'e Safari (Cavs closing in on deal for Amar'e LINK ON PAGE 3 PER ESPN)

Wow... I come home from a long night of drinking... I click on ESPN's article, and it reads as follows:

Sources: Hickson, Ilgauskas to Suns

Followed by "The Suns will likely waive Ilgauskas, which would allow him to be re-signed by Cleveland after 30 days"

That sounds done... but JJ for Amare straight up?.... you better not be fucking this one up Broussard

If it happens,

But I gotta admit, when yesterday Heath on realgm resolutely claimed that Amare is NOT coming to Cleveland, the chance of it actually happening sky rocketed.

Re: Amar'e Safari trade thread

ESPN: Closing in on a deal!!!!!!!!!!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4913305

Sources: Hickson, Ilgauskas to Suns

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns are closing in on a deal that would send All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire to Cleveland, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations.

The Cavaliers would send Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson to Phoenix in exchange for Stoudemire,
one of the league's most dominant big man.

While Cleveland remains in talks with several other teams, the club, from management down to the players, has settled on Stoudemire as its first choice.

The ball is in Phoenix's court. The Suns are mulling whether the financial relief provided by Ilgauskas's $12 million contract and the young and talented Hickson are enough for them to part with Stoudemire.

Cleveland believes the addition of Stoudemire would all but seal LeBron James' re-signing with the team when he becomes a free agent this summer. The Cavaliers are also prepared to sign Stoudemire, who has one year and $17 million remaining on his contract, to a long-term contract extension once the season ends.

The Suns will likely waive Ilgauskas, which would allow him to be re-signed by Cleveland after 30 days.

Cleveland is also talking with Washington about acquiring Antawn Jamison, as well as Indiana about Troy Murphy. Meanwhile, Golden State is trying to entice the Cavs into taking Corey Maggette for Ilgauskas.

I saw the thread title and thought a deal was close. This doesn't look like anything new. Just ESPN saying what has already been said.

I don't need confirmation from Stern, I need W&G or Windy or someone else that is credible to back ESPN's article up and let us know that things are indeed "close"

Broussard isn't the type of writer to use flashy headlines, and people's name in a trade rumor when shit isn't likely to go down, but still, some additional confirmation would be nice.

Re: Amar'e Safari (Cavs closing in on deal for Amar'e LINK ON PAGE 3 PER ESPN)

Yeah, nothing will be announced until late Sunday night/Monday...

No way this will be announced before or during the All Star Game.

Man I saw the thread title and thought a deal was close. This doesn't look like anything new. Just ESPN saying what has already been said.

Apologies for the near heart attacks I'm probably causing.....

At least i used "closing in on a deal" instead of their title "Hickson, Ilgauskas to Suns"

This could get interesting though... if truly nothing was suppose to be announced until later, then an article like Broussard's is basically letting the cat out of the bag.

There is no way the media can avoid this story now before the All-Star game.

Re: Amar'e Safari (Cavs closing in on deal for Amar'e LINK ON PAGE 3 PER ESPN)

this thread is looking just like last season...hope something actually happens this time...

Re: Amar'e Safari (Cavs closing in on deal for Amar'e LINK ON PAGE 3 PER ESPN)

ESPN's webpage title reads "Sources: Cavs inching closer to deal for Amare Stoudemire", which I believe is closer to the facts of the article than "closing in on a deal" suggests. ESPN chose to run with the more sensational headline, though.

Getting from where they are to closing the deal is still a big gap to close.

I agree. The headline is more exciting than the actual meat of the story. Phoenix is still deciding if they like our deal enough. It actually sounds like they are resigned to trading him and are floating this out there to get other teams to beat the Cavs offer.
