The first episode I saw was the finale. I then proceeded the next day and a half watching the rest of the series. I think each one got better.

I like the fact they are going to start it over each season. Though they may tie it together occasionally with the psycho kid. Who knows. I think they did a good job and can have fun with it if they switch it up every time. At least I don't have to see any more of that annoying ass realtor. For some reason she pissed me off.

I'm hoping that Connie Britton's character figures out that if she wants to be invisible as a ghost, she'll need to spend more time with her clothes off.

Had to go back a ways to dig up this thread. Did anyone watch the premiere of the 2nd season last night? After seeing it I don't have high expectations for the 2nd season. The set up wasn't great and I found I'm not really liking the idea of using some of the same actors but in different roles. Maybe that will be worked out as the season goes on.

Completely disagree. On all counts.

I thought it was awesome & can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

And the balls to pull something off like casting different roles for recurring characters ... If it works, they'll win a ton of awards for it.

I tend to agree with Damage. I find myself watching the show and thinking to myself, "This same concept could have been done in a million different ways, but it would have come off cheesy and over-done." The aliens thing is extremely intriguing.

There's something about how disturbing and dark it is that makes it different. And I agree...it takes some serious balls to try to convince you to like the same people in entirely different roles. I'll tell you what takes some SERIOUS balls....starting off the episode with a girl talking about how the lead singer of Maroon 5 could be fucking her in the ass right now.

I was really happy with the first episode. Even happier than I was with Walking Dead, and I was satisfied with that one too.

Anyways, I think the entire homage to the horror genre was incredibly well done. Creepy/psychotic Dr? Perfect role for James Cromwell. Jessica Lange is such a fantastic actress that recasting her in a different role took me all of 5 seconds to get over. What helps cover up the shuffling (obviously) are the new wardrobes, hair styles, etc.

I think the biggest issue w/ Season 1 was it got really confusing and, at times, just made up rules as it went along. Which is ok, considering you must suspend your disbelief to begin with, but I hope they clean that up just a tad. I will say one of the biggest "OHH SHIIT!" moments of last season was when you found out Violet was dead.

Not a huge fan of the second season so far. Even though its only one episode in I thought it was really cheesy to have it based on aliens and a demented doctor making "creatures". The undertones of religion vs science, and feminism, even though it is just a reflection of the time period they are capturing are kind of annoying to me as well. Not giving up hope that it wont get better, but I personally think it would have been nice to keep going with the first season and see what happened with the devil child.
