Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

at 25 he will never be as valuable as he is now.. isnt that what people were saying when andy got a new contract

NOT ME!!!

Edit: Sorry Torn, I took that the wrong way for sec. I read contract and thought you were saying we shouldn't have re-signed him for what we did and I was ecstatic about it.

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

It sure is for me. Like I said somewhere, Andy's only concern for me is his health. If he stays healthy, he will be a very, very, very... productive player for 4-5 more years. I want the rebuild to be 2-4 years (we are in the 2nd year) and I don't see anybody giving us anything that replaces what Andy brings in that time scheme...

This is year #1 of the rebuild.

Your MAN CRUSH on AV has become scary!

Become? I was one of only 2 or 3 who stuck up for his hold out on the cavs.com forum. I don't deny it, it's been there since we got him...

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

I was upset that the Cavs didn't trade him before when his value was high....

That said, while his value is pretty high right now, one tweak or twist or tear could change all of that.

When Varejao is in shape, he is a very effective player who can change games with his hustle and defense, he also has a very high basketball IQ - something that was overlooked for years.

At the moment I am really on the fence about whether trading Andy is the right move.

I know it is in terms of talent and in a PURELY economic sense of things - the buy low, sell high mentality.

But....

I absolutely love the way this guy plays the game and I think one of the reasons this team is playing the way it is right now is because Varejao has assumed a leadership role and the rest of this squad feeds off of his energy level each and every night.

On one hand, I know the rebuild is the ultimate goal....but seeing Varejao traded right now would kind of be like a swift kick in the nuts for myself and many Cavs fans.

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

Sure, Harden and Ibaka/Aldrich for Varejao and Sessions.... bwahahahaa

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

if we could deal Andy to Oklahoma for Aldrich and a first round pick....I'd do it in a heartbeat

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

Fine. Then you don't trade him. This guy got us about 3 extra possessions in the final minute of the game last night, can change a team with his defense and hustle, and moves without the ball like a fiend. People say fans overrate their players...don't underrate Andy. He can be the difference between a 2nd round exit and a championship to the right team. If you don't get GREAT value back for him, he has much more value sticking around these young kids on our team.

Is he going to be all that in 3 years?

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

High 20's draft pick and some stiff of center for AV? Ummm NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Wow that's selling pretty damn low what the hell has Aldrich ever done in the nba to make you want to trade Andy for him and the 30th pick in the draft. That makes just no sense.

Not OKC's first rounder. No way.

I'd want Harden first and foremost, and then we could probably help them relieve some of their front court congestion. I'd prefer Ibaka, but I'm sure they'd feel better giving up Aldrich who I think is playing behind Nazr Mohammed.

This is actually kind of interesting because Thunder fans seem to feel they had a trade for Anderson in the bag last season before his injury.

let him have a chance in the league he's only in his second season

I'd love to ... if he was packaged up with a young player who's actually show something like Harden. :)

And then if he sucks like I think he does we have nothing to show for our best trade chip. It makes no sense you act like Aldrich was a 20/10 guy in college and has that potential in the nba that just hasn't gotten the chance. Well he does not have that potential what so ever at best he is probably a good rotational back up.
