Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

AV's never played a better week of basketball in his NBA career, and he is clearly the teammate Kyrie trusts the most. He's also helping to accelerate Kyrie's development. This sucks. The Cavs' future hinges on acquiring youth and draft picks, but Kyrie's game could regress without a great pick-and-roll partner like Andy. I think the Cavs have got to play out the year with AV, if only for Kyrie's sake.

I love Andy and this awesome play. But the invisible hand of Adam Smith is keying a twitter that reads: "Of the wealth of the franchise: Trade AV"

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

Agreed. They played a killer 2 man game today and that is valuable experience for KI. I still support trading Andy if it yields a worthwhile return, but he definitely has a lot of value to our team.

What would you be willing to trade him for? And for what would you say "thanks, but no thanks"? Generally speaking, of course.

Feel like we would at least need a 1st rounder and a young player with potential, unless that young player is really good.

His value to us is definitely getting a mid-1st and either a young wing or young big. Just tough to slot a specific deal. Might make more sense in the off-season or draft to move him...if we do at all

Not sure if I want some 6'11" dude in a fox hole with me..

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

I probably would. They're more likely to shoot him than me.

I prefer to have a my partner not getting shot. Besides what do you do with a 6'11" dead dude. Crawl under him and hide?

Andy is so big, you could cut him open with your light saber, and use him for shelter.

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

Andy's age in the following years:
11-12 29
12-13 30
13-14 31
14-15 32
15-16 33

You NEED good Vets to win titles. (Lakers, Celtics, Mavs, etc--all had good vets on the team, 30+ yrs old)

Dallas age of players last year:
Kidd 37
Terry 33
Dirk 32
Marion 32
Haywoon 31
Stevenson 29
Chandler 28

If Kyrie is as good as I think he is and we add the picks we have over the next 2 years and we use our cap space for the right players (either free agents or trades), I can see us being able to compete by 13-14 when Andy will be 31. Yes, we would have to make quite a few very good moves to do so--but can you imagine how good Kyrie and Andy will be together having a season or two under their belts working together?

It would take one hell of an offer for me to let Andy go.

I love Andy, but I'll kindly ask that he stay out of my fox hole.

Re: Anderson Varejao is our untouchable

Let me make this clear. I want to build a winner as bad as the next guy. I'm pretty sure the Cavs will be a playoff team next season. (Hell, we might this season, and we're not even trying to.)

Anderson is a unique big man that has improved over the years, and has an all-hustle attitude that's contagious. He is now a borderline All-Star.
If we trade him, we will never get equal, or better value. If that is the objective. I would need an unprotected lottery pick to trade Andy at the minimum. And I don't see anybody doing that.

He will be 30 years old next season. He still has plenty of energy to play for me. Add one rookie starting next year. Sign 2 middle of the road free agents. Playoffs here we come. (Waiting for another super star to show up could be a long wait.)

Jamison, Sessions, Parker, see ya later. Keep Andy.

I don't agree with this. We should trade Varejao this year. We could get a big return, IMO, which would help the future of this team a lot more than having Varejao for a few more years.

Does the Cavs future hinge upon getting those youth and then not developing them to their potential? Sounds like a crappy future.

How about we try to learn how to win basketball games? Perhaps "our future" depends more upon that?

When does the tanking and self destruction end? Before or after all the players see that we're making crap moves in order to keep losing? When do you think they'll catch on? If they do, how will that affect their free agency decisions?

The best players (like the Cavaliers starting point guard) want to win. When that happens some of you are just going to have to get over it. It's why the game is played.
