Annual RCF Rate My Team/Who to Play Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You should just join a league with rules that make sense. Would make your life easier.

I hear ya on that one. I miss standard scoring and I miss the flex.

So I was out having a few post-work brews with one of my buddies who is in my PPR league. We chatted a bit about our teams and he expressed an interest in Josh Gordon, who is on my roster. I'm not the type to make handshake trade deals, especially while drinking high gravity beers on an empty stomach, so I told him I'd think about it.

Here's my Roster:
QB Matt Ryan
RB Jamaal Charles
RB Le'Veon Bell
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Julio Jones
TE Jordan Reed
FL Jordy Nelson
DEF Seattle
K Matt Bryant

My bench is Michael Floyd, DeAndre Hopkins, Mark Ingram, Knile Davis, Isaiah Crowell, Josh Gordon, and Tony Romo.

My weaknesses are pretty clearly at TE (which has been an inconsistent rotating shit show) and QB (Ryan has been inconsistent and I don't trust Romo because the Cowboys run the ball too much), along with questionable depth at RB.

Here's my friend's roster:
QB Andrew Luck
RB LeSean McCoy
RB Lamar Miller
WR Emmanuel Sanders
WR Golden Tate
TE Jordan Cameron
FL Kelvin Benjamin
DEF Colts
K Stephen Gostkowski

BN Lamar Miller
BN Reggie Wayne
BN Philip Rivers
BN Antonio Gates
BN Vincent Jackson
BN Rashad Jennings
BN Andre Williams.

Do you guys think there's a deal there that makes sense? Remember that this is a PPR league. I was thinking something structured around one of his QBs and one of his TEs (which would address both of my weaknesses), but I'm not sure if that's great value for me.

The main reason I'm not opposed to making a deal is because I'm already pretty set at WR, and I can only start three. Gordon won't be back until week twelve, and provided everyone else is healthy I don't want to be sitting there trying to figure out which three WRs to start each week anyway. It makes sense to deal him to address other weaknesses I think. I just don't know if there's a great deal to be had here.

I think I prefer Reed to any of his tight ends. Gates is pretty TD dependent and I don't trust Cameron.

You definitely need to upgrade at QB, and your bench is questionable.

I would try to pry Luck (highly unlikely though) for Ryan and Gordon. If Luck is untradeable, move onto Rivers.

Then drop Seattle and pat yourself on the back for winning the league.

Yeah, I like Reed on paper, but I also don't trust him much. He's constantly hurt. Larry Donnell being totally removed from the Giants offense has basically cost me the last two games, so it would be nice to get some sort of consistency at TE. But you are correct that Cameron doesn't really offer that either, although Gates is at least a reasonably consistent 10 points each week.

I started out with an offer of Gordon and Ryan for Luck and Gates. I figure he'll probably decline that, but then we can continue to negotiate from there. No sense starting with the lowest offer I'm willing to accept.

I mean you easily have to pry Luck out of his hands. No point in it. A lot of people will want Gordon when he comes back. Or shit, you can even trade away Jordy or another one of your wideouts and be set.

So, my team as currently constructed:

QB: Russell Wilson
RB: Demarco Murray
RB: Marshawn Lynch
WR: Demaryius Thomas
WR: Andre Johnson
TE: Jordan Reed
FLEX: Arian Foster

DEF: Buffalo

K: Blair Walsh

And a pretty shitty bench.

I just had this insane idea. Should I put Demarco out there in a trade and try to reel in another top 5 WR and maybe a solid RB? That way I could run with Marshawn-Arian and two top WR's and add a guy like maybe Fred Jackson at FLEX to get me 10-15 a game? I'm currently the top scoring team because I put up 190 a few weeks ago and a solid 5-1. Is this too risky? Am I crazy? lol Thoughts?

He has actually been starting Rivers lately, so I figured Luck would be the guy to target. Either would be an upgrade over Ryan/Romo, though. But I agree, Luck is the way to go, especially since Gordon should be a PPR monster when he gets back.

I need to start two of the following five players (one has to be a WR). 1 point PPR, 10 point bonus for 100 rushing yards, 5 point bonus for 100 receiving yards.

Joique Bell v. New Orleans
Ronnie Hillman v. San Francisco
Reuben Randle @ Dallas
Brian Quick v. Seattle
Andre Holmes v. Arizona

Thinking Bell and Randle, but wanted to see what you all thought.

Bush said he's gonna be back 100%, so probably not Bell even though I am starting him as of now.

So my buddy countered my offer of Gordon and Ryan for Luck and Gates with Gordon and Le'Veon Bell for Rivers and Gates. I told him that if he's not going to make serious offers to stop wasting my time. I'd be giving up the two best players in that trade.

I countered with Gordon and Ryan for Luck alone, but he declined it, and trade talks have faltered.

haha I do this stuff all the time when I receive an offer that I think is extremely dumb. If I receive a dumb offer, I counter with an even more lopsided offer. I think people are overrating Gordon in fantasy right now. Yes, he was a stud last year but he isn't back until week 12 and it's very unlikely he will repeat last year's performance. Look at how disappointing Calvin has been...Gordon could be in the same boat. It's not like Gordon is going to put up 200 yards and 2 TDs his first game back anyways. The Browns are a run first team and I'd imagine that he will need time to shake off some rust. And you also have to consider that Matt Ryan is essentially worthless to him. He's going to play during Luck/River's bye week and that's it.

I've been trying to upgrade my qb as well. One guy on my league has rivers flacco and wilson.. Another guy has cutler and foles. Some of these offers they have countered me with are crazy. One guy wanted bell and forte for cutler. I picked up palmer. I'm starting him over Stafford this week. I'm just going to ride it out for now

See, I personally think Gordon in a PPR league down the playoff stretch is a huge asset. And remember, he's the one who told me he wanted Gordon. I'm not just going to give him away, though, and I'm definitely not packaging him with Bell to receive a minor upgrade at QB.

As far as Megatron, well, he's only been disappointing because he's been hurt. Not much you can do about that. When he's healthy he's got ridiculous fantasy potential.

Was offered Larry Fitzgerald for Alfred Morris straight up. Thinking yes because I really need receiver help. I've for Fred Jackson, Arian Foster, Doug Martin, Joique Bell. At receiver I basically have Keenan Allen and Percy Harvin.

Need a defense to play this week...I hate asking for help every week but this team blows lol and I need every point I can get...

I have Colts and Panthers, neither one will do well

Could pick up Baltimore, Miami, GB, or Chiefs

Defenses score well in this league, 1 pt per 10 yards punt return, sack, and 25 yards kickoff return.
