Antawn Wants and Expects to Remain with Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree, it would be impossible to draft a talented player with the 10th pick. I mean, just ask Paul George, Brandon Jennings, Brook Lopez, Andrew Bynum, or Caron Butler.

You also get players like this guy at 10:

No one is saying you can't find good players at 10. But some of us would just feel more comfortable if we picked as early as possible

I understand that point well enough, but it has zero relevance as a response to my post.

mcfly: "some good players have been taken at the tenth pick in the draft

me: "you have a better chance of picking a good player at the sixth pick"

you: "what are we as fans supposed to do to change our draft position? we can't do anything."

so yeah i'm not really seeing any sort of connection, at all, between your post and mine. are you typing just to see yourself type?

Pretty much...

I love the "we'll be fine in the 9-12 range of the draft" crowd. Like they would welcome the increased difficulty in finding a stud to put with Irving. And while we certainly cant change the outcome, we can definitely pull for the best outcome on this board. If not, why even log in?

There's top 3 picks that bust all the time, there's picks outside that range that make it big. Obviously, there's a better chance of hitting it big the better draft pick you have, but ultimately, it just boils down to drafting well wherever you're slotted.

Jamison is a good guy and handles himself professionally but I do wonder just how much great veteran leadership comes overall from a player who fails so often to block out on rebounds or rotate defensively.

Wait. We can potentially draft a better player by having a higher pick? That's fucking crazy.

Going by your post history, this actually wouldn't surprise me if it shocked you.

If everyone cared about the fact that we are completely helpless as fans then RCF wouldn't exist. Do I really need to explain to you the value of a pointless argument?

That's not true. You don't have to think you can change/control something to be able to discuss it.

IWantAKouki is correct that a worse record gives us a better chance; but the sad conclusion many fans have drawn from that is that unless we're shooting for the worst record in the league, then we are failing ... and that any fan who dare disagree is obviously defective. This train of irrational thought is not especially productive for the board.

Try to consider that in any other situation, people who came on a message board to cheer whenever your team lost, and boo whenever they won would be booted as trolls...

I understand the paint by numbers approach to rebuilding a team, but I think people underestimate the value of attaining a player of Kyrie's caliber. For my money, a rebuild does not effectively start until you find a player that you feel you can build around. We have Kyirie, now we move onto the next step, surrounding that player with young talent. Would it be great to land another stud to pair with Kyrie? Sure. With that being said, I feel the import part is simply holding onto our draft picks, which gives us an opportunity to improve the team. We all know that having a higher draft pick is in theory better than having a lower one, but the truly import part is being smart about your selections whether they are a top 5 selection, or a mid lottery pick.

You say it isn't true and then go on to repeat my exact sentiment. You continue to baffle.

You're going to have to expound on your sentiment then, because I interpreted what you said to mean you didn't think a fan forum like RCF could exist without the self-delusion that our words somehow have power over what happens.

I don't think that self-delusion exists. Pretty sure most posters don't really believe their words/opinions are going to impact the way the Cavalier organization operates. We just need to talk - to sympathize, to antagonize, to opine, to lament, to predict.

Basically what I'm trying to say is telling someone "it's pointless to talk about" (which I believe was your sentiment) is the most pointless thing to talk about.

Obviously, I disagree that it's pointless or I wouldn't have made the point or expanded on it in my last reply to jlegg.

Dont bother arguing with Jon using logic.
