Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I guess this is ultimately my point. None of this has actually shown up. He's a stretch four that doesn't shoot well. He's a face up power forward that doesn't really handle the ball well. It's like he's supposed to be this guy with all of these unique skills that have a lot of value, except he doesn't actually have any of those skills. He's just supposed to have them.

Did he shoot 37.5% from 3 in college? It usually takes a couple of years for shooters to adjust to the NBA line.

Did he handle the ball well in the summer league? I think you're just stuck on last season's Bennett that liked to dribble the ball off his leg to the other team. Sure he wasn't perfect in the summer league, but he looked quite competent. Go read some of the comments on Youtube (regarding his dribbling) on his highlight reels; I'm not the only one that sees this.

He has those skills, you're just looking at him this year and clinging to last year.

Actually no. Shooting is the one skill that's supposed to translate to the NBA immediately.

History shows that there is a big jump from first year to second year if a player isn't a deadeye natural outside shooter. I believe Bennett had a lot going against him his rookie year, you may as well just toss it out the window. Watching summer league, he looks like a guy who can be a stretch four and rebounder. Still doesn't move the ball around very well and gets locked into scoring. I bet Blatt would have been frustrated with all those other weapons on the Cavaliers never touching the ball. He also still doesn't defend the rim at all. Zero blocks in summer league is telling of his mindset defensively. With TT and Love being a little below average defending the rim, one guy from that group had to go.

Bennett showed me enough to believe he can help Philly in a year or two, and Philly doesn't care about winning this season. Good fit for a team in the long-term rebuild.

Bennett is an ideal pairing with the Noel/Embiid big man tandem that Philly has if he could become the jump shooting, ball handling big that he was in college. Philly could even sport a big lineup with those two at PF and C and Bennett at SF giving teams all sorts of match up problems. I'll be rooting for him.

That is not AB...:chuckles:

What? And this isn't LBJ? :chuckles:

With Bennetts health and physical shap and the amount of running he did before games. last season was one big exhibition season for Bennett. This year will be more telling on what kind of player/potential Bennett truly has

he might look like that when he is older though

Thad Young maybe the perfect guy for Bennett to model his game after.

Best of luck in Minnesota Benny!

J (U) Is the pick the Sixers got actually more valuable than Bennett (and Bennett's contract)?

Kevin Pelton (3:42 PM) Vastly.

Jason (St. Louis, MO) Were you surprised to learn that Bennett was not going to the Sixers in the Love trade? If you had to pick, would you rather have the Miami #1 pick or Bennett?

Kevin Pelton (4:02 PM)
Given Bennett's large contract, Miami's pick is a much more valuable asset at this point. Getting both would have been better for Philadelphia, but I don't think Bennett has substantial trade value.

Time to change the thread title to "Farewell Anthony Bennett"?
