Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well for 1, is truth only limited to stats / numbers? Or does truth go a little deeper than just some mere numbers.

Answer this question so I know I would be wasting my time or not.

Hes trolling.
Says the biggest anti-bennett guy on the board.. calling somebody who says bennett is a beast a troll. That wasnt hard to see coming.

Theres not much bennett cant do on the court.

The KID can take off a foot inside the free throw line off 2 feet and throw it down with 2 hands.

His 2nd jump is ridiculous, especially when you factor in his wide shoulders and abnormally long arms, on top of how QUICK he gets off his feet, the KID is a monster.

When have you seen anybody back him down in the post. Never. Zen says hes undedsized because hes not 6'10.. what does that mean. I never saw a 6'10 PF back him down. I saw bennett D up ADavis. Davis tried to post him up and tried some turn around hook shot and bennett swatted it out of bounds, yea that size really hurt him, even against that long lanky ADavis.

Yea, bennett has a hard time defending the perimeter, ok so what. He has not even a year of experience in the league. He may not ever be great at defending the perimeter because his build being so thick and heavy, he lacks quick feet... but thats why hes such a monster in defending the post.

He can shoot from anywhere on the court, close, midrange, to the 3. Let him work on his post game and bennett has close to a complete offensive game for a big man. He even showed flashes of passing.

He can basically do anything on the court besides dribble like a PG, and defend the perimeter, but his problem lies in his mind. Can he figure out how to utilize all of his skills and strengths and be a productive player. I put my money on YES.

Fact, bennett was injured, and because of that, was out of shape.... but people love to overlook this FACT and write him off as a bust... DESPITE KNOWING he came in in a unfortunate situation.

He has all the tools and skils to be successful, he just has to figure out how to put everything together.

I guess im trolling.

As I've always said, Bennett has all the physical tools in the world to be a very good player. I don't think he has what it takes mentally to get there. Haven't seen any kind of BBIQ from him ever.

Motiejūnas really gave Bennett a tough time downlow in the summer league and I still worry about his defense more then his offense.

I like Bennett but I think the stats aren't really biased against him.
He's got a nice jumper combined with good lift both in terms of height and bulk). Makes you think of Barkley at time with his size and the power he can generate

On the other hand, unlike, Barkley he's not a good dribbler, doesn't use his length/ups to block shots, takes a lot of dumb shots, and doesn't block out nearly as well.

As I stated, I still like him and he's got the physical tools to be a difference maker but his skillset (dribbling, etc.) is not without faults and he's got to significantly improve on the mental side of the game.

More than anything, his stats are a reflection of a combination of unfortunate terms and IQ. But hes still young it would be foolish to assume he would never get it. If he can get the mental aspect of the game down, he can and will be a very productive, dangerous player.

We saw 7 footers try to back him down and looked like they were trying to back down somebodys house.

Although, greg monroe abused him in the post but it takes IQ to defend monroe in the post, something bennett lacks.

He's got a nice jumper

I wish Bennett the best and hopes he turns things around. Seems like a nice sensitive kid. But his jumper? It's been gone longer than it was ever there.

Some people gave him a pass last season because of the shoulder. Sure, Why not? But that "jack knife" body position that he does where he sticks his feet forward and bends in the middle when he goes up? It's not working for him. It seemed like the sharper he bends, the shorter the shot was. He was still doing that in Vegas this summer and his outside shooting in Vegas was still bad. At this point, it's probably safe to say that Bennett's jumper is broke.

I'd say knuckle down and work on it if that was the only problem with his game, but there's still the whole rebounding fundamentals, defensive awareness, decision making, and putting out real effort when he's tired stuff that he has to work on too. He probably should limit himself to set shooting and dunks for a while until he gets those other issues worked out.

his shot is not broke, its a mental battle that he has to overcome during the game. his touch is unusually soft, especially for a man his size. we seen him get comfortable, and we seen him nervous and frustrated. 2 completely different offensive players. when hes confident and feeling good, that shot is butter. his aggression in the paint is near un-guardable without fouling.

but playing smart defense is IQ, and that is a fault.

I'm not shooting coach, and I'm fortunate that my teenage nephews suck or they would have been laughing me off the court this afternoon like the young bloods snicking at old many Irving at the start of a pepsi max commercial, but something is wrong with Bennett's J.

First, you are right. Bennett isn't Tristan "knuckle ball" Thompson bad. He's got a nice touch. He gets good spin and shoots it straight. That's good stuff. Better than me. But way too often, his feet drift forward when he elevates for a jumper. Then as his body starts to pitch, he bends in the middle to compensate. It's makes it really tough for him to get the range right. He often gets too much arc because he's drifting back. Clank rim. Clank rim. Then he starts trying to compensate with his arms. Clank iron. Air ball.

At first I thought it was just weight and conditioning last season, which seemed reasonable considering his weight and conditioning last year, but he was still doing it in the summer leagues last month with the same results. When he joined the league, I thought he might be like Jason Maxiell with a jumpshot and a handle. At this point, he's got work to do to just get up to what Jason Maxiell brought to the table. He's got to start bringing some value before a GM exercises their team option to cancel his fairly expensive rookie contract. He's not on track to be worth $7Mil a year in season 4.

i know what you are talking about with his form from feet to release, but i dont have a problem with it. i think its because hes so big and strong, hes careful to not shoot it too strong. can it get better? of course. but thats nothing that he cant get after in the gym. not a big problem, not big enough to worry about because his shot is very capable of falling. he can catch fire rather easily from anywhere on the court.

Bust...just sayin.
why not..

just look at the stats, thats the lazy mindless way of looking at a player. stats dont tell half the story.

the mindless fan will look at his stats and completely disregard EVERYTHING else, because to them, stats are everything, then call bennett a bust..

nothing like a premature diagnosis.

i remember last summer i had a bump in my under arm and my nipple. i could have SWORE i had cancer. i was scared for days til i finally got checked out... come to find out, it was just my muscle because i was working out too much and not stretching enough. the next day, i was fine.

nothing like knee-jerk mindless reactions.
