Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think this was the scary part of keeping Bennett. A guy like Waiters had flashes of good play, and his floor seemed to be average play. So at worst, you could keep in in the rotation without wanting to pluck your eyes from your skull. Bennett had flashes of good play, but on the whole, he'd have to improve by leaps and bounds to get his game up to average.

AJ (Oakland) Can you see Anthony Bennett making a big jump this year sinc ehe's fully healed and had a whole offseason to improve.

Kevin Pelton (4:05 PM) If he doesn't make a big jump this season, he's unlikely to ever be a useful NBA player. He could make a big jump and still not be all that useful.

He got traded from a team that was going to be one of the best in the league to another disaster of an organization. Not only that, but he was basically just a throw-in to make the dollars work. I'd be pissed too.

Didn't Philly ask for Bennett in the Young deal and Minnesota said that was a non-starter? I'd hardly call him a throw-in then.....

The 2013 NBA draft was so bad, I still think Bennett will likely be a top 5 player from his draft class. But I don't regret trading him for even one second, especially given how much he's owed on his rookie contract.

A big jump for Bennett would just mean being not historically awful. Baby steps, fellows. Baby steps.

Hopefully he goes in in Minnesota. I saw flashes of a great scoring PF and to see that at 19 and injured is amazing. I still think he's a 20 PPG player waiting to happen. Well see tho. He doesn't seem to have any leadership qualities so I don't see him asserting himself in Minny. But hey maybe Rubio can ease him into his shots really well

Chris Grant can thank Bennett for losing his job too. Dan wanted Deepo.

AB's shot looked better. His effort looked better. However there has to be a huge asterisk on the game because it was against the 76ers who were sitting both Noel and MC Williams. That means that Henry Sims could have been the best player on the floor for Philly, and Bennett still went -6 for the game.

I watched this game last night and here are my "eye test" observations about Bennett:

The Bad

1. Settled on the outside jumper a few too many times (but the shot looks nice and I can't say it looked like he flung up garbage)
2. He actually could have scored a little more but became a little aware on a few plays that he was firing. So a few iffy shots may have had AB turn down the opportunity to throw up some more shots (which would have been of higher quality)

The Good

1. Very active around the basket and explosive
2. Despite not being tall, the weight loss has AB looking quick and jumping high. He didn't seem overpowered/outquicked in the paint despite not being the tallest guy there
3. AB's teammates seem to love him. I got the same vibe with Wiggins as well. The Rubio/Wiggins/AB thing works well. But yes, this is only preseason.

Haha, we almost dumped all the Canadians to Minnesota.

At least they're used to the cold.

I'm really pulling for the guy. I didn't want him to be traded because I see a talented player in him. I think he's going to shut a lot of the talking heads up this year. Will he be an allstar? I'm not sure he'll be that good, especially this season, but I can see him knocking on that door some years.
